Roof paint and sunroof

How much should it cost to get the roof of a dolphin grey painted black?

How come when I turn the sunroof dial closed it only closes all the way if I go real slow?

200 doesn't seem to bad at all to get the whole roof painted. I thought doing the entire car was like 5k.

Well when ever I close the sun roof, if I go 3/4 it goes that far just fine, but if I flip it all the way it stops/won't react. So I have to very slooooowly twist it closed then the window will close all the way.

There's a DIY on A4mods that shows you how to take apart the dial and bend up the metal contacts to fix the problem. Ive done this twice now, and it fixes it for about a month, then the problem returns. I dont really feel like its that big of a deal where Id go to the dealer and pay $400 to fix it.

It works for the rotations too. It fixes ghost sunroof too where your sunroof opens whenever it wants. I've done it once, and it lasted a few months.

Also, sometimes when I open it up, as in the back part, it closes again or at least becomes less open. What gives.

I would also like to know. Also how much labor should cost on applying the vinyl. A little worried I would screw it up. I want it to look professional and as good as a paint job with finished edges and everything.

ever thinking painting it a matte black? if you did, you could do the job yourself. not sure if you have any experience with body work but you could just sand the roof with some 500-800 grit sandpaper. Use a flat or matte black paint and than wet sand it with 1800-2000 sandpaper to smooth out the surface.

I'd want it shiny. What about aston martin white or chameleon or gloss black. for a dolphin grey body.

I was quoted 700, which includes the two new rails on each side (assuming they can't be reused), painting the roof spoiler, and removing/painting the antenna)...this is from a very, very reputable shop...and wasn't cutting any corners...

If anyone in socal has their roof painted, and for less, please let me know before I pull the trigger with this shop. Thanks,

If you paint the roof black should the roof spoiler be black or body color?

I like the subtle enhancements to my car to make it more aggresive. Ssome people notice it and some dont, but when you mention it they are always impressed... its a good thing!

Definitely not Maaco!! Their paint = cheap junk. As for painting the roof black... why? If it were a real carbon fiber black roof like on an M3 coupe or a black glass roof like a Benz that'd be one thing, but painting it black just for the sake of it looking that way... is it worth it? I suppose if you're Dolphin, Silver or White it'll look fine, but is it worth spending the money to do it?

^Yes. I posted a ton of pics in the waterfest forum and there are quite a few dubs and audis with black roofs on many different colored cars. It looks good..
