    Re: Votex with different grills

Ha, good luck. I busted my lower center grille last year and FINALLY found a place that offers replacements (thanks to Martini - http://autobahnstyling.com/product_detail.asp?prodID=20). The dealership only had part numbers for the fog grilles.

Before I found this, I was tempted to make my own. I tried finding grille material similar to the honeycomb pattern but didn't have much luck. The closest I came was this place http://www.customcargrills.com/products.asp?id=27
They have various grille mesh shapes so take a look.

I then found a place that let you download a CAD program design your part and pick your material and cutting method to quote you a price. It came out to be anywhere from $350 to $550 depending on steel, plastic or aluminum. I could have just bought a whole new front for $550, lol.

Anyway, I'd be curious to see if anyone else has a unique grille setup. I don't want to replace my center with something different and still have the remainder be stock votex. It would be cool if someone cleanly replaced the mesh all around with something else. I think the stacking oval mesh at the above link might fit well with our rings.

UPDATE 5/21/09: Just received my Votex center grille from autobahnstyling. It came in perfect and went right on like OEM. The best part? I also received the screws/weird plastic fastener things to attach it! When I ordered my fog light grille from dealership, it came without any of that. Kudos to autobahnstyling.

12/23/09 - My car has been phenomenal to me. Runs strong. Don't think I'm ever going to sell it. Rather throw $7k into it for a refresh than buy a new A4 that has no dipstick.
    12/5/10 - 100k miles & counting!
    9/22/13 - 146k+ & running strong w/a new TB, water pump, etc.

Thanks for the info. But what was the hardest thing?
from what i understand, you can keep the frame and put a different grill instead. I know the stock one is glued to the frame, but it shouldnt be a problem to take them apart.

If you need one, I have the lower center grille left from when I took the votex kit off. It has two holes in it from the license plate frame though.
