    Re: Cvt?

    CVT, Constant Variable Transmission

It constantly changes the speed of the engine to provide the best efficiency and power, in theory...

    Audi's have a 6 gear tiptronic CVT.

    Re: Cvt?

Quattro does not use CVT. The front wheel drive tips do...which I have unfortunately.

    Re: Cvt?

yeah, CVT can be good or bad:

Good if you are planning to run it stock or mildly mod it ( + 1). There are CVTs out there running BT setup, but I think that's asking for trouble. Overall, it takes some time to get used to it, but it is pretty fast compared to manual; not as fun though. and it saves on gas too.

Bad if you are going all out. Then you shouldn't even start with a frontrak. But as far as CVT goes, I think it can only handle a certain amount of torque (200, I guess).

Sure if you only care about racing in a straight line. There are other ways to show your driving prowess, actually requiring more skill than flooring the pedal...

    Re: Cvt?

Yeah I guess it's not so bad, but I am really worried about the TCM going out. Also, quattro would be nice so I could take it to the mountains and feel secure in the cars ability. Oh well, live and learn. In a few years, my B8 will definitely be quattro!

ps-that exclamation point is for Kirk!!!!!!
