Looking to do my first oil change since I've owned the car. ECS has them but with shipping they are around $16 each...any chains carry the large style filters that are recommended?

You can get fram, purolator, mobil1 at advance auto or autozone for like five bucks. I used everyone one of them with no problems and they are huge!

please do not use junk type fram oil filters when you can buy Mann or Mahle filters for the same price.

autozone or any of the parts stores along those lines should have either a Mann or Bosch filter. that's what OEM uses anyway. just make sure you get the part number from online or Audi first, so you know exactly which filter to get.

Re: Where to find oil filter local?

I spoke with AoA after purchasing my car a couple weeks ago, and for proper records (for the 80k oil-sludge warranty), I need to keep records of oil changes including receipts of oil/filter purchases. Buying these in bulk may cause concerns in case of a warranty claim as that becomes questionable whether the changes were done on time or not. So I'll suck up the extra cost and order individually.

Re: Where to find oil filter local?

You show them the receipt for the 10 filters you ordered and say a new oil filter was used on every oil change. I don't think you should get THAT worried about it. If you are so worried about engine sludge right now do a cycle of auto-rx and forget about it.

According to my tech, the factory oil filter is bigger and holds i think .5 qts more than all those other oil filters. I would stick to the dealer on something like this. Dealers can refuse warranty service with aftermarket filters. Stick to the stealership, your turbo will thank you!
