I'm taking the S4 to California and back (NJ)... 6,637 miles

this trip should put the S4 at just over 100k miles...
I just changed the oil and plugs last Friday and I'm planning on changing the thermostat and 02's before I leave.

things to keep in mind:
- timing belt was done last summer (15-20k miles ago)
- serpentine belt was changed at the same time ^
- diverter valves were just serviced
- I'm running a bipipe so no TBB worries

Things i'll have with me:
- tools most commonly used on the S4
- air compressor
- flat tire repair kit
- laptop w/ nationwide wireless access + my vag setup
- extra clamps
- 1 gallon of premixed g12
- g4 steering fluid
- washer fluid
- 1 gallon gas can
- 9 quarts of German syntec & an oil filter (2 extra and 7 to change in California), and Mobil 1 synthetic grease.
- duct tape
- paper towels
- zip ties

anything I'm forgetting?

five days in California

6 days back
San Diego -> Tucson, AZ -> Roswell, NM -> Austin, TX -> New Orleans, LA -> Lynchburg, TN -> D.C. -> Home

I think you should take at least 10 unique pictures in each state. That would be AWESOME for documentation. I would host them if need be, but be sure to take them in a decent resolution!

If I were you, I'd also bring along a security measure...just in case someone in the boonies likes your car too much. Nowatimsayin?

That trip sounds awesome. I would love to do that. Definitely take a ton of pictures and post them up. I'm stuck out here in Hawaii and if I drive more than an hour or two I'm back here where I started. It sucks.

You should put camera mount on the top of the car for the whole trip and then edit it so it fast forwards and looks like only 2 minutes long! I love that stuff!

A map could come in handy, and when you on the I-70 west outside of grand junction CO, make sure that you top off at Green River. There isn't a gas station for like 110 miles or so. Good luck and have fun.

A GPS is worth every penny on these trips. Ive done a couple of these trips (another in about a month) in the S and makes life soooo much easier. And painters tape is a must. Have fun and meet up with Thirdstrike if you can, great guy. Vegas baby!
