    Tools needed for Axel replace

    Comeing from the honda world so i dont have any tools needed for Audis.
    What tools will i need to replace an axel and what are they called exactly so i can go buy them thx

    17mm hex socket, 10mm 12pt socket, torque wrench, floor jack, socket set with extensions.

    ^^
    14 mm Allen socket for the rear. And a 1/2 drive long handle wrench/breaker bar helps a lot b/c the bolts are very tight.

    ^^true.

    OP, which axle are you talking about? There are several in the car. There's the front and rear CV axles, the drive axle....

    actually its a 12mm 12 point (triple square)

    Nope, it's only 12mm on aftermarket bolts. The stock OEM bolts are 10mm.

    PS there's a really good tech article on AW regarding axle replacement. Has a list of tools and everything.

    Yeah the stock bolts are 10mm. Add a big cheater bar to the list.

    If he follows the tech article he'll probably end up doing twice the work than is necessary. There is NO need to pull the control arms from the spindles or anything like that. Just use the floor jack to lift the spindle all the way up, turn the steering wheel all the way to lock in the opposite direction from the side you're working on, unbolt the axle, and work it out of the car.
