    intermixing springs??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
once i got my LM's on just now, you can really notice a hieght difference between the front and rear. my rear sits amazing and i dont wanna touch it, but my front needs to be 1/2 an inch to an inch lower to really even it out. Currently, i have the vogtland spring and koni shock combo sold at purems.com

What i was thinking of doing is getting rid of the front springs i have now, and put in eibach or h&r springs, but is it ok to mix 2 different spring types?

OR - the ecs tuning "coilover kit". buy the required bilstein shocks, buy the coilover kit, and still use the vogtland springs

obviously there is a huge difference in price, but if you really want to change just the front save up and go with coilovers.

since when do dubbers put performance before ride height/ stance...?

ya i noticed that emil. i would do a little research on the spring rates of your current springs and the ones you want to put in. they never really drop it exactly what they say they will... my best advice for you would to be run it as is for a few months or something until you can save a few hundred then buy some used street sports or something and sell your shock/spring combo to recover some of the damage... and I WANNA SEE THE WF PICS MAN!!!!! great meeting ya

    Re: intermixing springs??

You can't adjust your spring/shock combo?

On my bilsteins, before you put them on the car, you can adjust the height you'd like by placing them on various perches. I have mine set on the 2nd lowest all around.

    Re: intermixing springs??

Mixing and matcing i a little bit more complicated then it may seem. For instance finding another name brand springs with similar compressions could be somewhat difficult. By mixing and matching compressions front to back you could seriously compromise the handling characteristics of the car. I would say just save and do it right once, rather then half assing it once and having to do it again.

    Re: intermixing springs??

yea^ i was thinking of getting those, but i need bilstein shocks...

what if i stuck with my vogtland springs on all four corners, but use the bilstein shocks up front, with the koni's kept out back?

    Re: intermixing springs??

I wouldn't. The koni's and bilsteins probably have different dampening characteristics. It would make your suspension handle unpredictably. If you don't really push your car though and are just doing it for looks though, go for it.
