I keep having this weird window problem on the drivers side.

I pull up for the window to automatically go up. After closing it partially comes back down. I do it again and it does the same thing.

Then my auto up/down stops working ...after i mess around with it, it works again. lol

ANYONE have any problems like this?

    Re: Window Problems

happened to me before, in really really hot weather

    something about the anti-pinch feature

the weather seals get "sticky" hot, and the window thinks its pinching someone so it rolls back down a bit

    Re: Window Problems

my car has done this since day 2 of me owning it. its about 5 weeks old now and has done it a total of maybe 5x.

and yeah, the days its happened have been really hot. at first i thought it was some kind of anti-buffer thing because i had the sun roof open. but now that i read this, maybe i should take it in.

My 07 did this for the first time at Waterfest. It was 100 degrees so I agree that the temp has something to do with it. Never happened before and hasnt happened since.

As many said before it's because the seal up top is either sticky and swollen or has some debris in it.

But for your auto up/down, how did you fix that? I took my car in for tint and they said the drivers side was too tight so they didn't do the front. Only at waterfest did I notice I don't have auto down on the drivers side... The button doesn't have the 2 clicks anymore either to go down... Anyone have an idea of what to do?

yea take it to the dealer... has happened to me... they will "reset" it the first time which means they shake it around till it works again... it broke again... finally they replaced the entire window switch console on my driver side.

    Re: Window Problems

Just recieved my car back today from the dealership. They had 6 other Audi's with the same concern, the Engineer was there today, doing the work on my car because im a employee for the same company, and their solution was to just reset it. They tried to blame my "Tint" but it isnt thick enough for it to add friction between the window and frame when it goes up. So they stand nowhere on this issue but other than resetting the auto function for the windows. Nothing they could do about it from there folks but to reset it. They said that during the summer months, the weatherstripping swells up a little causing added friction and window sense's it and tells it to roll back down. Thats where we stand at this time though.

You can add another new 08 to this window problem list...
My cars only 2 months old and this started happening over the weekend (heat wave in NY).
How do you go about reseting the windows exactly?

    Re: Window Problems

Dealership will need to reset it. But they haft to have the concern first so it can be sent to AoA, so they know their are other Audi's out there with the same issue. They will need to hook up their diagnostic computer and reset it i would suppose.

    Re: Window Problems

this happened to me, and kept happening to the point where the window would not move at all. so i took it to the dealership (in winter, no less, driving 100 miles at 75 mph to my dealership and being unable to roll up the window) and it turned out to be a malfunctioning actuator according to them. got it replaced under warranty

    Re: Window Problems

I'm at 6400 on the clock and its done it several times, but I'm really thinking its the climate's because I've never seen as many issue's with cars out here compaired to when i lived in VA. Out here during the summer months its 100+ by 11 am and around 85-90 during the nights and mornings. Cars suffer so much more abuse out here compaired to fair weather climates. But we'll just haft to see how it all plays out. It will always be covered under warrenty, never fear that. Unless its your fault, it will be covered under warrenty.

The whole auto up/down kept happening after it would send the window down 1/4 after rolling up....what i do is kinda weird lol. I basically roll the window down by clicking it half way so its not fully clicked where the auto option kicks in. Then I take it up the same way. THEN I put it down by pressing down all the way where the auto is usually supposed to jump in, then up....then a minute later it works lol...i know its weird

    Re: Window Problems

This happened to me 2 weeks after I purchased my CPO A4. The dealer said there was moisture on the switch. I had the windows tinted 2 days after I purchased the car and they were trying to blame it on the tint, saying that water got into the door from the tinting process. I pointed out that I had been in Palm Springs for 5 days in 112 degree weather so I doubted that the water would still be "wet" after that. They then asked me if I had recently washed the car (of course I had!) and tried to blame that. I pointed out that if that was the case then it must be a design flaw since you are supposed to be able to wash your car without issues. They ended up fixing it under warranty.

No ...only thing I've done so far is tint my windows...and I highly doubt its that...besides wouldnt it happen on the passenger side too? Or is the whole pinch thing on the driver window only?

This happened to me today on my drivers side window (full close, then roll down 1/4) . I left the windows down for a bit & it did close after a few tries.

My "auto" up & down stopped working only on my drivers side window. I have an 08 A4 too.
