    Waterfest: The Journey Home

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So far, driven 1850 miles since Thursday when we left FL for Waterfest. My parents are building two houses in Tennessee so I drove here last night, got in around 11pm last night and spending a few days, then heading back to FL. Got a chance to relax a bit today and take some pictures. First time Ive been in this area so its rather interesting/fun for me!

Drivings a bitch on the car, especially when they are blasting mountains apart to widen roads and have dust EVERYWHERE! Arriving in TN

    Some HDR from this evening:

Friends of my parents house, they are building right down the street

    There backyard

    All cleaned up

    Few randoms from this morning

And the views from the two properties where my parents are building, one on a golf course and one on a lake

Leaving tomorrow afternoon to head back to FL, just wanted to share some pics before the final 13 hour and 700 miles or so back home!

    Enjoy!

    Shawn

12/23/09 - My car has been phenomenal to me. Runs strong. Don't think I'm ever going to sell it. Rather throw $7k into it for a refresh than buy a new A4 that has no dipstick.
    12/5/10 - 100k miles & counting!
    9/22/13 - 146k+ & running strong w/a new TB, water pump, etc.

Wow. Tennessee is pretty. I don't know too much about photography, but those pictures make the area look amazing. Your parents sure nabbed a couple sweet pieces of real estate. Can you wakeboard on the lake? Looks big enough - wake limit?

Driving all the way up here in the first place... thats called dedication. That is some beautiful property too, maybe i'll have to rethink about moving south now... but your car looks really good, bummer you had to drive through all that sh*t, I would have been freaking out.

You sure can, I believe its called Lake Norris, it has 800 miles of shoreline and is more than big enough to do whatever you would like. There arent any speed restrictions that I know of other than around marina's like was said above

Agreed! You owe it to yourself to take US 129 South and experience the Tail of the Dragon. Shows you how well our cars can take twisty roads. The road is in great condition with banked turns. Just be careful about speed as the THP likes to patrol that area. Don't cross the center yellow line, and you'll be ok.

BTW, great pics! The property and the car looks awesome!

LOL, come on shawn dont act like your dad hasn't paid for anything that has to do with your car or 1552. Might as well be proud that he has or you might not be where your at now and instead still working at a body shop.

BTW nice shots of TN, I have family there and its where my dad grew up. Been to few nice places not far from Nashville and Memphis.

LOL, how great would it be to roll out of bed, eat breakfast and then get hit in the head with a 100 mph golf ball when you walk into your back yard?

Not good places in TN? You have to be kidding. Where do you think all of the country singers live? They all live near nashville in huge houses next to lakes, plenty of them even own their own lakes.

Yeah. In Brentwood TN just outside of Nashville.

I used to work maintenance on a golf course and got hit many times by golf balls. Its not fun.

    right.

only a handful of towns out of the whole state look like that - thus is the case with the states around them (to varying degrees). I've lived in this area my whole life and it's the sad truth of things.. then again nothing is perfect and there aren't many places left in the WORLD where anywhere you go you can find views like that (sans golf course LOL)

but like i said, those few places around here that are that beautiful make you kinda sit back and really enjoy things...

p.s. - I've lived in or have good friends that live in most of the areas on the east coast which people consider to be "rich" ...so its nothing new, and im not oblivious to the whole thing. I was just stating that most of our states seem like they're farm land, factories, or just a waste of space with no real natural beauty left. (for instance - the entire cary/raleigh/apex/durham area has been reduced to business centers and subdivisions... even lakes carr, jordan, harris, and gaston aren't that nice anymore.. and half of those are man-made)
