    Windshield chip?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just my freaking luck... I got my car 5 days ago. Just yesterday im driving and a freaking pebble hits my windshield and makes a small chip on it. Now im scared that over time its gonna crack. Well anyways my question is, I have 12 months bumper to bumper warranty, will this fall under that warranty? and if not how much do you think this would cost to replace the windshield? I'd rather ask here before i go to the stealership and they try to pull well some sort of steal. Thanks

    Re: Windshield chip?

I doubt that will be covered. You might be able to go through insurance depending on your coverage, but your premiums may go up. Have you checked those windshield repaid places? If it's a small chip, they can fill or fix it so it won't spread. (I have one as well and I'll probably get it done before Winter.)

    Re: Windshield chip?

if its a small chip you wont need to replace the wind shield. They car repair it, and fill it in... infact most insurance componies do it for free cause it saves them money in the long run. just take it to an auto glass place and they will tell you... i doubt it would need to be replaced. I think as long as it is less than an inch or so in diameter it is fixable... but dont take too long as it will expand... and dont use your A/C ... the temp diff outside will make it expand much much faster.

It costs around $20 and takes about 15 minutes to do.

It will still be there but less noticeable it also will help it from spreading.

    Re: Windshield chip?

It's a permanent fix. I thing the size of the crack determines how noticeable it is. I have two on my truck's windshield that are easy to see but a friend of mine couldn't even see where the repair was on his windshield.

    Re: Windshield chip?

Yep everybody is right.. Im a Master Technitian for windshield repair, most insurance companies will pay for it, no deductible, no increase on rates, call them and they will set you up with a shop. In the mean time put any kind of tape on the chip only out side dont put too much pressure on it, will keep water and debris out. Dont wash the car before getting it fixed.
