What do you do with your phone?

What do you do with your phone when in your car?
I haven't found a good place to set my phone where it wont slide around, wont be in the way and i will still be able to easily see it to see whos calling or quickly grab it when it rings...

My advice is to put your phone in a safe place, let it go to voicemail and call back when you are stopped. In essence, hang up the phone and drive.

I don't like to consider that as a location myself because I feel that I'm contributing to the dash peeling era. (my interior is beige, it's more noticeable)

They did just pass the hands free law, and i use a bluetooth headset when in my car. Thanks for the lecture though.

I keep mine in it's case on my belt. I just set different ring tones for the people that call me most. Otherwise, I won't answer when I'm driving. I have a Palm Centro now, but I used to keep my BlackJack in the little slot right beside the e-brake.

In between my legs. I usually don't hear it with the radio on so this way I can feel it if it goes off. Also putting in the under-seat storage bin works. And its the safe way to go about it. If you have a small enough phone you can put it in the credit card tray.

i dont like putting it on the ashtray because it slides around scratching the trim and my phone and sometimes falls on the floor. Is your arm rest different than mine? On mine the handle has no bottom so my phone would just fall straight through to the floor.

I have the 1st gen iPhone so it actually fits perfect in the card tray (thats where i put it now), but the signal interferes with the radio and makes a weird noise which is really annoying.

I picked up a free rubber matt for my phone at waterfest.. I've seen them before somewhere but can't remember... I put it above the ashtray and it holds the Iphone with case perfect, no sliding... :)

right beside the e-break... not the coin holder spot, but resting in between the the e-break and that spot... holds the phone in place... works for me!

I open the door ashtray and put it in the ashtray. I have the phone tilted upwards and towards me so I know who is calling. I have a Palm Treo (seems to be popular among a4 owners). Windows FTW!

My treo 750 goes in the tray under the arm rest. Fits in there perfectly. Bluetooth takes care of the rest.

The dudes that roll with those usually have the blue tooth headset to compliment the 'hey i am connected and will talk loudly in a public place... i don't care, because i am TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS!' vibe that this sh*t hole of Los Angeles is filled with! YES!

I put quarters in my ashtray and then my blackberry pearl right on top. It fits just fine.

Here's another one: I usually wedge my wallet between the emergency brake handle and the right side. Then when I pick up a highway pass ticket or whatever they are, I wedge that in there also.

that's where mine goes. i've missed calls in my pocket before cuz if it gets in the right spot it's not against your leg and you don't feel it...

soon i'll have my AVIC in though, and my bluetooth will make this a thing of the past

Actually, I keep it clipped to my belt because of several reason.
1) I've broken far too many clips having on my pocket.
2) I've broken too many screens and/or phones completely having it in my pocket.
3) Had a friend that got into a car accident. Cell phone was on his dash, became a projectile, and killed the passenger. Nuff said?

Unless you've been driving for at LEAST 10 years, please don't think you're the best driver in the world, and cruise around with your phone up to your ear. You look stupid, you're not cool, and there's no reason to be on the phone unless it's an emergency, at which point you pull off the road anyhow. Yep, I sound like an old man, deal with it. Hang up, pay attention, and DRIVE!!!
