Fuel Pump and/or Fuel Filter

My engine light came on recently.

My car jerks while driving. It feels as if it searching for power.

I hear weird noises coming from the back of my car.

Is it my fuel filter or fuel pump?

I have a 2003 Audi A4 1.8t 65000 miles.

2003 B6's have a recall for the fuel pump and the dealership should replace the pump and filter for free regardless if you are out of warranty.

Wierd humming noise from the the rear passanger side is fuel filter or fuel pump. Like the guy above said the 03's had a recall on the fuel pump so they will replace it for free. Consider yourself lucky i replaced my fuel filter a few months back because i got the humming noise and it didn't fix the problem now i will be spending 200 bucks from genuineavwaudiparts.com for a new fuel pump.

I called once before about my Audi recall, and they looked up my VIN and said the recal didnt apply to my car.

Really? I thought it was all 2003 B6 1.8t's??? Try another dealership and see if your vin # shows the same...

you guys are lucky.
mine is 02 3.0Q and got same problem. humming noise from rear passenger.

not under recall.
repaced Filter and Pump last week total $740

if u caught the sound fast enough, replacing filter will do the trick.
If you keep driving with heavy pessure on fuel pump to very clogged filter, the damage on your pump will be non-recoverable and finally lead to stall with failed pump.

I think i have a failed pump. Luckly for me I baught the extended warranty. I will just pay a deuctible of 100.00

Now driving it 30 miles to the nearest Audi dealer maybe a challenge.

recall doesnt apply to my 2003 audi a4. I do not know why.
