Just a quick pic of the A4 USP with black Avus wheels....

Bought these from a forum member recently for a good price. Just wanted to go back to 18's for a softer and more comfy ride. The VMR VB2 19's looked nice though. Painted the Avus wheels with semi gloss black spray paint. Nothing special, but turned out fine. Will get spacers later to bring the wheels more flush with the fenders and also slightly wider tires than the 235/40/18's Contis it has on now once they wear out.

    painting is easy

i did it to my bbs's in 2 days
just sand down wit 320 grit paper

make sure you sand a lot and get everywhere...this is key

put notecards all the way around the wheels

sticking them in between the wheel and tire(keeps paint from getting on the tire)

then do 3 coats of black(or whatever color you want) sandable primer(15ish mins between coats) then let dry for 30 mins

then do 5 coats of duplicolor high performance wheel coating(black in this case)
15 mins between coats and put the last 2 coats on pretty thick.

and let dry and youve got some good looking wheels=]

    materials again would be
    3 cans sandable primer
4 cans duplicolor high performance wheel coating
    pack or 2 of notecards
    320 grit sandpaper
    6 pack of beer=]

Pic request - can you post a pic of your lower center grill area w/o the grill on? I'm interested in the vertical strips. TIA.

    BTW, great looking car.

Thanks. I am not sure what you are exactly asking though. You mean the front lower grill area? You want me to rip the thing out? Not sure what you mean by the vertical strips. I want to help and don't mind snapping pics, but I don't want to start disassembling the car apart.

Yes, the front lower grill area. No, don't rip it out, pull it out gently. I'm curious what it looks like behind the center grill on the bumper (not the center grill itself). Only thing that is removed is the grill. Nothing else.

I want to make sure I indeed got a front USP bumper and not some hack job. I'm hoping I'm wrong...

Well, I've actually taken it off before for painting and there's nothing behind it except the radiator.

Yes, I took the 2nd pic down from a parking lot upper level at one of the Oracle parking lots in Redwood Shores.

Those wheels look awesome on your car, very clean!!! You're car makes me wish I had a B6!!! I want to do that to my b5 S4 wheels cuz they have sooooo much curb rash, but I don't feel like I couldn't paint them as well as you did....

Well, it's only been less than a week, but from previous experience, it holds up well. Nothing special. Just an Ochard Supply $2.99 semi-gloss black exterior/interior rattle can spray. Works for me. Effect is achieved. I'll spend where I need to and save when I need to.
