    Replacement Key Notice

In the mail I got a notice regarding some class action suit against VWoA regarding replacement keys. Looks like Audi was "forced" to let independent shops duplicate audi keys.
I called one to see what they know and they're simply clueless. I wanted to get new B7 key and was told that they're on different frequencies. I asked to look at FCC numbers and he just repeated himself.
Anybody tried any of independent shops?

I got that letter today, too - with an insert for the owners manual.

I tried, I failed, I only have last spare that I won't risk.
Local shop quoted me $220 for everything, just as bad as dealer.

I saw that and there is a risk of breaking your keys as you indicated. This shouldn't be an affect on the Class Action Suit. Audi, must have one heck of a legal bill! The Audi 5000, the B5 A4's timing belt, now the keys...geez.
