    Stage 1+

Just got flashed with APR stage 1+... went to Mittler Motors in Newmarket (a newish APR dealer, and more importantly (for me) an alternative to H2).

Anyways, the car feels great. I blew a coil on the way home... popped in a spare, then blew another one while on my way to the dealership to get a new coil. Figuring that this was some kind of bad coil-omen, I just replaced all 4, and now have a new spare (and 2 used spares).

Now, my dad's 2002 A4 is also chipped... though we were never sure of where it was done, or what flash it has. It's either GIAC or Revo... because he just flashed his new 04 avant with APR, and he says it doesn't feel as fast as his 02. My 1+ feels about the same as his 02... I attribute this to APR being smoother and a bit more linear. His 02 comes on hard and then dies off I guess.

I'd argue that his flash is more fun... which is a shame, considering I've got injectors (and therefore more money) wrapped into my car. Hrmm!

So yeah, those are my thoughts regarding 1+... and I'd recommend Mittler motors to anybody looking to get flashed with APR, and not go to H2. :)

APR sale is on now, too... So I got 2 programs for the price of one. Not that I'll be opting for 93 very much with these gas prices!

Care to say what's wrong with H2Sports and why Mittler was better? (PM me if you need to). I tried looking at their site (Millter's) for pricing but it has no info and it has a terrible layout.

I called H2sport last year regarding APR and I felt the guy didn't want my business by his we're too busy for you attitude, so I took it up to Newmarket to AMI Motorsports. Not perfect but better than anyone else I talked to.

Pretty much the same experience for me, too. I think I once called about a vag com and it was even worse. I was very happy when I discovered that I could get APR elsewhere...

And as for stage 1+... it doesn't feel very on/off. It's quite smooth... but not terribly fast. I'm happy overall, though. I've got the bike if I need fast. But I'm a 10-20 over type of guy anyways... so stage 1+ suits me great. I'd recommend it.

I didn't get that treatment lorvar & headshok got when I called today, but regardless, word of mouth is important.

I know there used to be a guy there back in the day who was a little like that but he's gone.... Jason has always been professional and an interesting guy to talk to. I also have full trust in the work they do. They are concerned with every detail... They are worth every penny, and I hardly trust anyone with my car.

How's your mileage on Stage 1+? Searching yields varying results. I get about 27+ MPG on Stage 0 minus minus (stock) and that's with a decent amount of city & "spirited" driving.

Haha, well that is a plausible statement, as we now have FIVE 1.8T's in the family. However, I did just recently sell a 3.0 A4... While I loved how smooth it was... it didn't feel fast (of course, it wasn't...).

I used to have domestic V8's though, and they were fun in a straight line. Oh well, the 1.8T is my favourite motor thus far... of course, I've yet to own a 2.0T.

WiZZla... as far as mileage goes, I'm not sure yet. I've been on the car much harder than usual, because I just chipped it. I'll post again once I have a good average. I've not even run a single tank through it yet (about 1/2 a tank, actually).
