Im new, so what do I get for S4?

I have a 2004 s4 and have been researching on exhaust and intakes. For exhaust first i really like milltek and read some forums and they are very expensive, then i found out that everyone loved the fast intentions exhaust also and its alot cheaper, know they dont sell headers right just downpipes, so how much for a full exhuast from fast intentions do you think. Now on the intakes i found two of them the One on the stramoshere website and the Carbiolo or something like that, im not sure which is better or if there is a better one. Any help would be great thx.

Intake wise, they both provide sound, no power gains. Best to just stick with the oem airbox and let your exhaust provide the soundtrack.

skip the intake. just get a K&N. im happy with my FI DP's, really made my CB come alive.

first thing I would do, would be full exhaust and a snub mount.
    mpg's lol

agreed. K&N + full exhaust = one hot sound. The snub mount is also a really good idea.

Hi degmidget, you should spend some time researching these questions using the Search function, these same questions have been answered many times, you just need to look them up. Once you do that post here if you still have questions. Welcome aboard.

So i looked at the hyperflow intake and says 10 hp to the wheels, so that is not true like you guys said, you get just as much performance just from a oem k&n filter?

no such thing as a CIA for the S4. each one gets heat soak... your just gonna be pulling in hot air from the engine compartment. better off with the stock airbox, maybe a K&N drop in

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we all appreciate your enthusiasm, but searching the forums would probably net you 10x better answers than anything that will be posted in response to this thread.

It seems like you really want to spend $$$ on an intake. Take it from everyone here that they are NOT worth the money. I bought one way back in 2005 but only because K&N had not released their filter for this car yet. Usually you hear about heat soak on turbo cars but since these V8's run so damn hot (remember that's a big engine stuffed into a small compartment) the motor is really affected by this - mine was anyway. After installing the K&N and going back to the stock air box there was a huge improvement and the car seems to pull much smoother - also no more surge off the line after sitting at a stop light. Remember too, Audi spends millions of dollars on R&D for these cars. There was a lot of thought that went into the stock air box and if you look at it compared to some of the so called CAI's, the stock box actually looks like it would keep more hot air out anyway. IMHO, the CAI's that are currently on the market are all hype. Anyway, unless you really want to spend money on something that isn't going to do a damn thing, I would stick with a drop in filter. That, DP's (downpipes) a cat-back and soon you can pick up the new VF supercharger. Happy modding!!!!!!!

I was just asking because those intake where very different from each other, its not that i want one, if they suck then why spend the money. Any tips on short shifters, are they worth the 300 bucks? I searched but didnt really find anything.

I drove a friends S4 with a short throw, and the shifts felt quicker and more positive.

I still think for my first mods I will be doing the rear sway bar and the snub mount

There is no such thing as an '04 (B6) RS4.

    You're after a B7 RS4 sway bar ('06 onwards).

I'm looking to mod my 1991 Geo Metro convertible. Does anyone know if I can do an engine swap with a Corvette LS-1 engine? How much horsepower will I gain? Is it expensive? Will my sex life be more fufulling?

Yes, it's a direct match on the swap. You will gain 700-800hp at the wheels, and it will cost approximatly $30. Lastly, your sex life will improve dramatically as Geo Metros are natural chick magnets.

    Good luck!
