Neither. Go to Podi.ca and pick up one of the packages there.

Re: Anyone rate these two gauge pods

I just put in the vent pod and I'm happy with it. If that's what you're going for, AWE also sells them, and I believe there's another one but they don't sell the "angled" vent so the gauge faces the driver. If you're going for the steering column pod, podi is probably you're best bet. Wiring for all is pretty much the same.

Podi is what i have and recommend.. but if I was to go vent it would be the AWE, quality products all in all...

I got the one from ECS because it's angled to the driver. AWE and VMR are both flat.

Did you get their gauge too, or are you running the ECS pod and someone elses gauge.

I got the kit with pod and gauge since I didn't want to go through the trouble of looking for another that's close to what the dash gauges look like. The gauge that comes with the kit is close enough. I'm planning on painting the rim silver so it matches the dash. Also, the light on the boost gauge is a lot brighter than the dash lights so I'm trying to find out if I can put inline silicone diodes to dim it a bit and match the dash lighting.

Re: Anyone rate these two gauge pods

I went with the Podi over the vent-gauge options (which I also like) and I'm happy I did so. I can't express how much it would suck in the hot hot weather not being able to aim that vent where the ventgauge goes. When it's over 90, I like to aim the two driver side vents right at my face and for heat in the winter I like to aim them away from me to create an ambient climate control feel. If I had gotten the vent gauge then I would no longer be able to control that vent.

PLUS, if you're getting the gauge to actually pay attention to your boost, it's much better being in the gauge cluster as your eyes don't wander off to where they don't belong under acceleration. When I drive my friends' cars with vent gauges, I don't even notice the gauges because they're away from my area of attention. If you're getting it for looks so passengers can see you have a turbo, then the vent gauge is fine, but once again, you lose a lot of functionality out of that vent.

Re: Anyone rate these two gauge pods

There is a thread on how to dim the light down with an in-line resistor from Radio Shack... search it up and you'll find from a few months ago with all the specs on how and what you need... go podi once again and no worries...

I wonder why Podi mounts gauge on the right side.
Wish he made it with mounting on the left.

exactly which one did you buy and is there an issue with the brightness compared to the stock gauges, is there any negative regarding your setup that you can point out.

Re: Anyone rate these two gauge pods

I went with the VEI gauge and it has adjustable brightness levels in red.. only thing is that the podi is black but that can easly fixed by painting.. I personally stuck with the black it looks good against the cluster with the silver bezel of the VEI gauge..

New South Performance puts the mount on the left side so instead of blocking the speedo, it blocks the redline on the tach. I haven't seen it in person though.

There is a reason the opening is offset to the right hand side.

From the testing I did people found it easier to sight the tach and the boost gauge when they are not in the same side.

Due to depth of field issues you can either focus on the tach or the boost gauge if they are both in the same side.

But when the tach is on the left and the boost gauge is on the right the left eye can focus on the tach while the right eye can focus on the boost gauge.

I bought it with the Stewart Warner matched gauge. It looks good during the day but indeed lighting is weak. However Winston is putting out a replacement gauge soon
