    APR Stage 1 Flashing CEL

I just got Stage 1 at Waterfest on Saturday. Leaving the show to go to Aunts to spend the night in 5th gear between 3-4k it would feel like a boost spike then jerk a little bit and eventually got a CEL flashing. Pulled over, popped the hood, started it back up and drove to my aunts with no CEL. I put a Forge 007 DV in before I drove home. Me and my cousin drove around pounding on it to 6k and no problems. On my way home I was in 3rd at around 4k and got a flashing CEL and went off after about 10 seconds. So now when I get it up to about 4-5k it will spike then jerk a little and will get a flashing CEL for about 10 seconds. Is the coil packs going bad? Your help is appreciated. Thank you.

Also, had a great time at Waterfest. Saw Lee, Shawn, and Martini's cars and they all looked great.

flashing CEL means that there is a severe misfire. probably your coil packs or plugs. how many miles and when was the last time you changed plugs?

Bought the car with 40k and took it to Audi for the 45k service. I'm at 51k and have never changed the plugs or CP's. Maybe I should look into that.

Damn, I looked all over Waterfest for coil packs cause I knew I might have a problem with it. What's the best plugs to run and where can I source good CP's fast?

How do you like the flash, BTW? I got my GIAC from AWE today and so far, its OK at best. I guess it needs to settle in a bit...its only been about 40-50 miles since the upgrade. Definitely pulls harder and revs quicker, though.

I bought a Forge Splitter and am doing the injector program in a week or so.

I'm happy with it. It's deffinitely like a gateway drug to bigger things. I can feel how much harder it pulls. I always said that Stage 1 was as far as I would go, but I'm going to go for more. Love it when I don't have a misfire.

Def. a coil pack going bad. I had the flash (93 and 100 octane) done about 2weeks ago, and on my way home the same thing was happening to me, I had my car towed down to my local dealer and they replaced two coils!! Once the coils were replaced... man what a difference, it's like a whole new car!!

I think I'm going to run copper plugs. Although they need to be changed more often I'm hoping that a better sparking plug will help so I don't continue to misfire.

Yep, coilpack. You can probably get them slightly cheaper at a VW dealer instead of an Audi. I did.

12/23/09 - My car has been phenomenal to me. Runs strong. Don't think I'm ever going to sell it. Rather throw $7k into it for a refresh than buy a new A4 that has no dipstick.
    12/5/10 - 100k miles & counting!
    9/22/13 - 146k+ & running strong w/a new TB, water pump, etc.

Yep. I said the same thing about modding. At first when I bought it, I felt the Audi was "too nice" to start messing with it. Then I started driving it everyday. Oh well

I'll probably be into a BT by the end of the year

    Happy modding!
