OEM Jack

It's a complete and total POS. Rear tire blows out on the Garden State Parkway goin to my boys Beach house, no problem. I'll be on my way in 5 minutes i'm thinkin. 2 hours later and a one useless pretzel of metal I was able to get back on the road and was so sweaty,dirty and flithy just went home. If I didn't run back to my trunk to get something to chock the car up with b4 the jack finished goin into a pretzel I woulda done thousands in damage. If you don't have an aftermarket jack, drop the 30 bucks and get one.

Oem jack has never been a problem for me... by recommending getting a $30 aftermarket jack, are you saying we should keep a 20 lb floor jack in our trunk at all times? Working on the car at home you need a floor jack and stands for sure, but changing a tire on the side of the road I think it works fine. Perhaps yours is defective and should be replaced?

agreed! i twisted mine 2 years ago, never replaced it, got stuck somewhere, felt like an idiot. its too bad becuase audi did give us a nice little kit that has some real useful pieces in it... jack part just sucks though.

hmm, mine works fine. i even used it to keep the car jacked up overnight with another one from a civic. of course you always should chock you wheels when jacking up your car.

No, get a 2 ton bottle jack at Walmart for 13 bucks. The thing is tiny and will fit inspare tire well and can be positioned so it won't move. The messed up part is I had it in my back seat that night, but because I was 2 lazy to open up the spare tire space 2 toss it in I brought it in my house right b4 I left.

This is a pretty well known thing with the C5 A6 crowd. The jack can't support the obesity of the A6 and the fail all the time. Honestly when I had to swap a tire a few months back I just kept staring at the thing waiting for it to snap. The problem with the small jacks you guys are talking about is that they barely get the wheel off the ground on the A6 when fully extended.

Hmm, I fixed that loud worn brake pad sound of like metal on metal rubbing. THe damn rotor shroud was bent like a paper plate. Nothin a hammer couldn't fix.lol
The thing that disturbs me more then the jack now is I took a look at the brand of tire. Its a Dunslop, and that makes it now 4 dunslops I've had blow out on me. 2 in a car and 2 in a bike. The thing just exploded out from the sidewall, just like the other car tire a couple of years back on my Bimmer. Yes, I check my tire pressure every morning walkin out the door from work, its a habit I have from the bike so it was steady at 36 all around give or take a lb or 2 a tire. Dunslop blows, tommorrow after work i'm goin to my grand parents house and gonna find which tire it was that beat my beloved Michelins in every category for all seasons and put em on asap. I swear Dunslop is gonna kill me.

The OEM jack works fine for me. One day, when I was going to leave from school to home, I found out that one of my tire was TOTALLY FLAT in the school parking lot. I must changed the tire immediately. I used the OEM jack and it's quite stable in my own opinion. It lifts the car high enough to change the tire without fully extened.

Honestly get a jack from a newer Dodge Neon... They are unbelieveably sturdy...

I love the little jack. I don't even have a real jack in my garage... I just use the little Audi one and jack stands. Probably not a good idea in general but it has certainly done its share of lifting.

i use it to lift the car up but i always put a jack stand under the car, actually i usually just put a ramp under the car, my jacks are a little too high.
