DIY - Reset Service Reminder (w/out VAG COM)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I learned how to do this yesterday, so enjoy!

    1. Place key in the ignition (leave it in the 'OFF' position),
    2. Hold down the 'WRENCH' button directly above steering wheel column,
    3. While holding the 'WRENCH' button, turn key into the 'ON' position (do not start the engine),
    4. Let go of the 'WRENCH' button, and quickly press the '0' button.

That will reset the service reminder to the standard 5k interval.

I read the manual through and through, and never read that. That's my fault guys, sorry.

Will read more thoroughly before posting!

Hey - at least it's on the Internets now so if someone searches for it they'll find your post...

I accidentally hit the CHECK button when I was going about 30 mph the other day - it set a warning tone that goes off every time I hit 30. To reset, simply hold CHECK for a few second when going between 0 and 3 mph...

^^ You can hit check at any speed above 3 mph and it should warn you with a tone everytime you go over that speed. Pretty handy on long drives for those who can't afford any more speeding tickets! Press and hold the check button to cancel.

Good to know now. I ordered a book the other day to read up on everything. Why do people keep those books and not keep them in the car?

This is only the case for Canadian, RTW and European Audis. A4s in the US don't have variable/extended OCI enabled in the instrument cluster. Resetting the original 10K miles/1 year OCI requires entering specific values in a certain order in the IC adaptation channels, requiring VCDS, or VAS factory tools.
