if you had $425 would you get the cx racing smics? I'm looking for something cheap that will have a positive effect on performance. Any other suggestions or just to with the original plan? List of mods below. Speak on it

You gotta chop the bumper support and relocate your power steering cooler. I think.

In addition I don't think an a6 with a front mount would look that hot and I lose sleeper appeal. Would I have to modify the bumpers appearance to get the full effects of the fmic

The smic's are garbage from what i've heard. the cx fmic's are proven performance. I think JHM shows the amount of cutting involved in the front bumper on his website.

I just did this mod today, all i had to cut was a little tiny piece of the bumper support and that was it i used the awe smics but would imagine it would be the same for all of them.

As for the fmic i think that is not a smart idea in my opinion. id imagine that there would be a lot of cutting on the front bumper for it to fit right. I bet it messes with the radiator as in not having the right amount of air flow.

ER's was preaty easy to install with a bit of pain with a/c dryer and hoses, but ok. They are not cheap tho.

it's a perfectly smart idea. they have proven performance increases over any SMIC, and they do not heatsoak. While airflow to the radiator is decreased, an EFK (170 bucks from VAST) can solve that and then some. But many people have run FMICs in warm climates without having heating problems, and wihtout EFKs.

    Re: Upgrade smics

Get a water/meth injection kit. They can be had for under $400 from Vast and will do way more then a cheap intercooler option for the money, then save for some ER's or AWE's. Skip the FMIC unless your just going to drag race and don't plan to track the car, otherwise FMIC will be best bang for the buck with a EFK if your not tracking the car.
