    To program the remote functions on a new key, get in your car with the car off and the driver side window rolled down.

    insert the new key into the ignition

    insert your vallet key in the driver side door lock (outside the car)

    turn the vallet key towards lock and hold it there

    while it is held towards lock, press the unlock button on your new remote for
    2 seconds.

    let go

    press it again for 2 seconds

    let go and you should hear an alarm honk or something like that.

    This is from memory so it may not be right.

    I will most definitely try 400hpa4 method because if not I will have to suck it up and pay 110 to get it done at the dealer .

    thanks all

    Re: WHO can reprogram keys besides the dealer????

    The key and remotes can be programmed with vag com, however the key adaptation needs a four digit pin code you can get this code using some "special cables", once you have the 4 digit code, you can adapt any key. The dealer may also give you the code. I have adapted both keys and remotes with vag com. You can do a search for vag tacho this may help you to get the 4 digit pin and then you will be good to move forward.
    the method with the door closed using 2 keys also works, and remote adaptation can be done by putting the key in the ignition (must be a functioning key) anbd turn the ignition to the first position, do not start the car, then press and hols for a few seconds the lock or unlock button, turn the car off and then try the remote, it should work. Hope this helps.

    It's important that the difference between the remote locking key fob transmitter adaptation in the comfort / convenience control module, and the key fob immobilizer transponder adaptation in the immobilizer control module in the instrument cluster is clearly understood. The two functions are completely separate and independent from each other.

    Thats alot of big words The car is running great now its just the keys do not unlock or lock my car. I recently purchased a B7 key and I will go from there. From what I have read since I have the 8e0-959-433-bb control unit I could do the swap. ?? we will see all i really wanted was to get my car running now that is doing just that I will have time to look into it.
