Yet another stage 3 is born! finally....lol

well after 5 months my s is finally reborn. just got the motor back in yesterday, firing it up today and doing the exhaust then its done!

For anyone who for whatever reason is not taking their audi to and audi service center i strongly recommend that you find out the history and talk to people about there experience with that shop.
I got BuFu'd hard by a shop that claimed that they had a "european expert" i took the s there to get new k03s and they ended up breaking a total of 4,580$ worth of parts that were in perfect working condition upon taking it to them. As if that wasnt already bad enough it took a total of THREE MONTHS for them to put new k03s aka used turbos from a salvage yard, that ended up immediately blowing 45 miles after the job was "complete." oh they also left a pair of VICE GRIPS in the engine bay! Not a single gasket was on turbos turbo lines oil lines or anything and they put prestone in it to top it of HOLY $H*T what a bunch of tools. anyway i ended up taking it to a buddy of mine thats got a good grip on what hes doing and we wont be done with it any later than tomorrow night some pics and vids will be coming very soon. the exhaust will be done later today ill have a vid of that posted im doing 3 in full with a aero turbine muffler! (neg back pressure!)
anyway im somewhat glad it happened lol because since that place ruined all those parts i was credited just a smidge below the awe stage 3 kit price and bought it woohoo!

So did they not charge you for the fucking up? Or did you have to pay it all out of pocket?

Re: Yet another stage 3 is born! finally....lol

well i paid them upfront to fix it because i was under the impression that the k03s were a lot cheaper. but they did refund all of it. i had to buy the stage 3 kit out of pocket for now, but they are paying for the cost of the k03 kit which is like 5500 after its all said and done so im really only paying 2500 for 8000 worth of parts so pretty lucky

Why does everyone think our cars are soo hard to work on?

i came from hondas to this car and IMO its not any different.

every car has their little differences in procedures.. but nothing is really any more difficult

Funny you say that cause My toyota Mechanic said the same thing.. he frets when he gets an Audi in let alone an S4.

im sure its not as hard as you think it would be just by taking a look into the engine bay. but id rather not be responsable for ruining a 8000$ kit i just ordered because i put a bolt in the wrong spot.

Working on a Audi can be touchy, especially some of there design configurations are questionable at times. Most people panic because its a expensive car and if they fubar the job, its hard finding parts..sometimes expensive and time consuming. Especially with newer Audi's. The problem I find with Audi is there support format for technicians, coming from using the Ford IDS system, VAG scanners are slow and not user friendly at times for me (5051,5052), very different learning curve, and wiring diagrams were a nightmare at first. Once you learn that service position and dismantling 30% of the engine just to get to something else not related to what you just dismantled is normal its not that different.

Re: Yet another stage 3 is born! finally....lol

well its done now lol and holy shit that thing is fast! i love love love it haha ill have a good vid soon. Anyone looking for a new muffler should check out aero turbine! It has some crazy design that makes a vortex creating negitive back pressure a very good thing for turbo engines.

I have a question though my check engine light is still on even with the giac chip in, will it always be that way? i know one o2 sensor is bad for sure but other than that i think everything is good.

here is a list of exactly what was done
AWE K04 swap full kit w/o manifolds (is 10hp worth over 1k lol!??)
    AWE fueling kit
    AWE smic
    GIAC chip
    South Bend clutch
Full 3" exhaust with aero turbine muffler
    timing belt change
    new motor mounts

Soon i would like to go take it and get it dyno'd anyone know a good dyno in the fort collins/denver area?
