New Seat Upholstery

I'm not sure if this should be in this forum or not so move it if necessary.

Boys and girls:

I"m looking to re-do my interior. I picked up a sport cloth interior from a junk yard around me for $300 in good shape. What I want to do is switch out the inserts to something yellow. I'd love to do Alcantara, but not at $90/yd. I've tried searching for various fabrics but I'm having no luck. Does anyone know of a fabric that could work that I would be able to find in yellow? I'd love to have a suede, microfiber, alcantara, something along those lines but I'll look into other options too.

Also, does anyone know what the stock material is? Is it cotton, tweed, twill....any help you guys could give me would be great!

if your gonna do a suede like product use alcantara its durable wont fade or wear and make smooth spots. not sure where to buy yellow tho

Goodluck finding alcantara fabric by the yard... plus in yellow, its pretty hard fabric to pick up these days and if you do find it, its sure $$$$$$$

i would do alcantara in the seats. the only place to buy it is probally gulffabrics.com you could also do ultrasuede which is about a 1/3 of the price but alcantara is a lot better.

how much is a lot.....I called Gulf and Alcantara is $129/yd....ultrasuede is $69. I think to do fronts and rears I need 4yds of yellow plus whatever I want to finish the seats in. Right now I'm thinkin' Carbon Fiber Vinyl and yellow Suede.....

ehh... vinyl and suede? not really feeling that. I would spring the extra couple bucks and get leather on alcantara. much better quality

yellow will be a bitch to keep clean. you may want to find a shop that does interiors. they may sell you some fabric or do the job for you.

alright. So I've decided that re-upholstering the seats is not in the cards right now. I installed them yesterday and although the lumbar needs to be adjusted, they feel great! I love that there's no sliding when you're taking turns but god these things sit higher than the leatherette seats. It's actually almost annoyingly high......
