Is it possible to swap steering wheel controls on B7?

I posted this question in a different section without any luck, so maybe someone here knows... I cannot get used to the awkward placement of the steering wheel controls with the volume being on the right and scroll being on the left. I wonder what kind of genius designed it this way. Do the UK-spec B7 cars have it on the opposite sides, and if so, is it possible to swap?

i think it would be possible to swap, you would just need to extend the wires for the controls if needed.

sounds like fun to do, DO IT!

yeah, well I'm sure it could be done if the UK-spec A4's controls are placed differently than on the US models

I actually like it this way. It's also good that Audi kept it consistent throughout their model range, as the MFSW controls operate the same on my Q7 and A3 too. Like anything else, with enough time and experience, your brain will adapt

I actually think they didnt keep it consistent, they just made a subtle change that drives me insane. On the steering wheel, the left roller button controls the track selection. In my 06, rolling the button upwards meant going to the next track, now its the opposite, it rewinds. I hate that! I was also wondering if it would be possible to rotate the button 180 degrees. Anyone actually tried this?

Consistent? Yes. Ergonomic? Not really. Most of the controls in your car are operated by your right hand, so why have a volume control there? Don't you change the track/channel more often than you do the volume? Speking of volume, my BT connect/disconnect chime got very loud for some reason and I can't find a way to turn it down. Anyone know how?

To turn down the BT chime, push and hold the •))) button and roll volume control down.

I actually adjust the volume far more frequently than I adjust the channel/track, so the way the controls are laid out work for me..but then again, maybe it's because I'm a southpaw

Is this to adjust the volume of the ring for the car when you get a call or of the chime when the phone successfully connects to the car?

The ringer on the car for when I get a call is ridiculously loud.

The first time I heard it it sounded like an alarm and I thought someone was trying to steal my car while I was driving it. lolz

mksap11: thanks! I'll try it today. Raskal: it's for the chime. try adjusting the volume on your phone's "car" profile.

instead of swapping wires on the steering wheel side it might be easier swapping the wires on the ECM side... or somewhere in between.
