    Quick APR ECU question

Does the $499 for Stage 1 include the ability to switch between stock and chipped modes via the cruise control stalk, or do you have to pay extra for that? I couldn't tell from the website.

    Re: Quick APR ECU question

It's included right now during the Waterfest sale. It's normally an extra $149 option.

APR sale is good until the end of the month.

    Re: Quick APR ECU question

Darn. $499 sounds a lot better than $648! Do most people get the switching option? I would definitely want it.

^ Did you have to pay extra for the flipswitch ability? For the OP question.

    Re: Quick APR ECU question

I got mine while a sale was ongoing pretty much the same buy 1 get 1 free going on right now. I opted for stock and 93 octane. Major difference I noticed is an increase of about 8psi of boost between the two programs.

    Re: Quick APR ECU question

I was thinking about the switching ability since I was still under CPO, however, since there was no sale when I decided to do it, just a month ago, I decided that going with one program was good enough since 1. It won't really void the warranty unless a. you tell them. b. They still have to prove that it is the mod that broke the car. 2. APR claims that the programming is stealth, so they can't detect it. 3. Save the $149 for something else.

However, now that it is on sale, you can get it done for the same price as one program, then I say don't hesitate, just do it, if you were thinking of doing it anyway. Albeit, one thing to consider about the switcher, it may actually be more detectable, if they install the stock program because most techs know how to switch it with the cruise control. If the program was never there, well...

    Re: Quick APR ECU question

Yeah the $550 included everything, upgrade and labor. I went to a shop local to me in PA... $499 + $29 for labor and obviously then taxes!! I thought price was very fair, and the flipswitch on the cruise control was not extra.

They'll (dealer) will be able to tell anyway...lol. It's always best to talk to your service advisor about chipping first. At least I did, then discovered that he's a motorhead like me (most are car guys/girls at heart) and he even directed me to a great tuner in 5 minutes away from the dealer, AWE tuning. Said that more than half the cars that come in are customers of theirs including the techs.
