I had my transmission rebuilt. They replaced the second gear, second gear collar, and second gear syncro. How does my second gear look?

The 1-2 collars always lock up so that explains why that would be replaced. Out of all the trans kits I sell, the most common other parts to replace are 2nd gear and sometimes third gear. Not due to the gear itself but due to the front edge where the shift collar engages. Yours is definitely rounded and would be a definite replacement on a customers car and a borderline replacement if it was my car or if I was in a pinch.

Think about all the times that 2nd gear grinded or crunched due to a worn synchro, that grinding is what rounds that out. So to all those who have a a grinding second you may not want to wait. Each time it happens it rounds off that gear. And that gear costs $490.

    Hope that info helps.

    OP,
The part you're looking for is in the 3rd pic from the bottom. At the top of the gear, there are those little teeth. They should have a sharp angle to them, yours look smeared and rounded, like Jason said.
