    OEM tire pressure ?

i just got a 06 S4 aniv. ed'n. I looked inside the door to see the rec'd tire pressure and was shocked to see it said 44 psi on the door sticker.

I've never run tires this high.

It still has the original tires.

Do you suggest i run them at 44 psi?

    thanks for your opinions

    Bob

Recommended pressure should be on the tires. 35-40 sounds right.

For gas mileage 44 may be best ... I ran my 18's around 38 lbs.

    Re: OEM tire pressure ?

B7 S4 is 44f/32r which if you look at the weight distribution of the car is a close match. I personally run my fronts at 38 with my 19's as I feel I get better turn in response. The factory specs are a guideline and the psi can be adjusted to affect handling and fuel economy.

    Re: OEM tire pressure ?

I tend to run about 41 up front and 38-39 in the rear. If you look at the door panel, it will give you a guideline.

    Re: OEM tire pressure ?

From what I've been told at Audi club events, the suggested tire pressures ensure the car will understeer. I run my fronts at 38 and my rears at 41.

    Re: OEM tire pressure ?

I just got a 2008 S4 and the service guy told me to go by the manual not the inside of the door.. so not sure what that means to you guys as I am yet to read the manual or check tire pressures.. I'm still getting over the fact I just bought one of my dream cars :)

That only makes your car understeer more than with the factory recommended 44F/44R. If you want to dial out understeer, you should go higher in the front...try 41F/38R.

    Re: OEM tire pressure ?

I assume these are cold numbers.
Does ambient temp play into it, i.e. CA Vs Canada.
How does wheel size/tire type effect numbers?

    I am running 39F/36R on 18's
