    Worth Keeping?

i brought a 1995 a6 quattro back in april. the car was for sale for a few months. i finally bought it. it had 142,000 miles now 145000. i paid 2700 for it. since then i had to put in some work, new brakes. tires those are to expected. i know i have to do a timing belt, my ac does not work, my muffler has a small hole but will need replacing eventually, also spings and shocks. also recently had my fuelpump go on me and just got that fixed. Do you guys think its worth keeping once i get the work done? My brother figured it will cost me about $2000.000 to do the work. he is a mechanic. just wondering if its worth keeping. thanks for any advise!!

    Re: Worth Keeping?

that's all up to you dude. if you want to sell it and get something else then do it. just know that if you keep it you will keep having these small things happen (some bigger than others granted) ~ so that should be a choice based on your monetary situation and how much you like your car.

i'm kinda in the same boat though... except i probably got a bit more money in the car, and it's worth about the same as yours =)

I'm just going to keep mine as awhile longer so I can save up money (finally paid off in 3mos) then trade up for something new... in the meanwhile i am still paying a lot every couple month for etc repairs... spent about $500 last month and probably the same this month not including respraying my bumper

    Re: Worth Keeping?

That's a lot of repairs for that car.
Gonna cost a lot more than $2000 to fix that up, especially TB, A/C, Springs/Shocks, Muffler...

And you've already dumped cash into brakes, tires, fuel pump, and what not...

There's a pain threshold for everything...how long can your wallet stand it?

Think about how much you'd spend in total for parts and labor to fix it up, plus what you've already spent or will receive if you sell it.

Can you get a better car for that money?

I can honestly say I've spent almost as much in maintenance and upgrades on my car in the last 2 years as it's KBB is now...ouch...

Talk about throwing good money after bad...lol..

    But I love the car...

    Good luck whatever you decide.

    Re: Worth Keeping?

i have been thinking about it, its a hard choice. i just feel if threw another 2000 it will be fine and atleast get me to 200,000 minus small stuff here and there but nothing every week or every other week like its been doing. i think most of the problems if the car before i got it wasnt taking great care of. i dont know i love the car when it works right awd is great especially in the rain and snow
