How do you program b6 Keyfob and immo?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I completely trashed one of the switchblade keys of my a4 trying to do the b7 housing switch.. badd idea .... So I bought another b6 key from eBay, and I took my key blade and stuck it into it. So now all I need for this b6 key to work is to program the LOCK/UN/TRUNK/PANIC btns, and program the immo so it doesn't say "SAFE".. My questions to you AZ'ers

1.) How do you program the Remote part of the key (LOCK/UN/TRUNK/PANIC)?

2.) How do you from the the Immo chip... It is a new IMMO chip that the eBay company put in, so it has never been programmed to any other car.

    Thanks!!

Link to the key I bought:

I dont think you can do this on your own or with a VGA COM.

I had to take it to the dealer. They charged me 70 bucks...this included cutting the key, programming immobilizer to start your car and programming the remote to Lock/Unlock.

Programming can be done with VAG-COM, but the immobilizer must be done at an Audi dealer (VW dealers told me they couldn't do it anymore on the B6 and newer models)

Re: How do you program b6 Keyfob and immo?

To program the remote functions on a new key, get in your car with the car off and the driver side window rolled down.

insert the new key into the ignition

insert your vallet key in the driver side door lock (outside the car)

turn the vallet key towards lock and hold it there

while it is held towards lock, press the unlock button on your new remote for
    2 seconds.

    let go

press it again for 2 seconds

let go and you should hear an alarm honk or something like that.

This is from memory so it may not be right.

This will roll the window up if the ignition is not turned to the "ON" position.

Yes, you can. Read my write-up on this. Be careful not to damage your original immo chip when you remove it from the old key fob. A number of people have screwed up their immo chips by breaking them. I've done this several times without issue.

I can confirm this works! Just have to be a bit quick on the draw pressing the unlock on the new key after turning the "working" key to the locked position in the door...

    THANK YOU 400HPA4!!

Out of all the different methods this is the only one that works on my car. For those who have the 2005.5 B7 2.0T, this should work for you as well.

Thanks again, this was driving me nuts!

Older thread but worked well to program a different remote. But once I did it erased all memory from my first remote. And after trying to reprogram the other remote it works but then erases the other's info. I have tried to sync the other and set with different clicks to get different channels. But nada. Any ideas?

I can also confirm it works BUT, you MUST HAVE THE KEY TURNED TO THE ON POSITION (don't start the car)... I almost chopped my arm off doing it with the ignition turned to the "OFF" Position.

**NOTE** The immobilizer is a totally different story. Before even considering using VagCom you will first need the 4 digit Immobilizer PIN which the dealership will NOT give you, even if you have completely paid the car off. I had to get a locksmith to do it for me.. Dealership wanted 200 bucks to program the fob. The locksmith Cost me 60 bucks AND, he gave me the Immobilizer PIN which by all rights belongs to me, not Audi. :)

Yep, it worked... did it with the ignition off and the window did START to come up but went back down... I did need to turn the ignition on and off again to complete the programming.
