    Brake Pad suggestions?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm needing to replace my brake pads on my '04 A6 2.7T S-line. Does anyone have any suggestions for what brand of pads and how much $$ and where to purchase? Get them with the sensor, or without? Much appreciated.

Mintex "Red box" pads. Low dust and excellent stopping performance at a decent price (about $100 all 4 corners)...

    Re: Brake Pad suggestions?

I just did mine two days ago, I wanted the EBC green stuff pads but the place I ordered from didn't have them in stock so I went with the Pagid for the ATE calipers with the sensors. I think having the sensors is a great feature to have, especially for me cause I change the rotors at the same time to the zimmerman crossed drilled rotors and I want them to last as long as possible. They seem preety damn good so far. Just make sure you get the right one for your calipers.

Good point...what calipers do I have?

I have no idea. I definitely not a brake expert and wouldn't know by looking. How would I tell if I have the 4-pad or 2-pad caliper?

    Re: Brake Pad suggestions?

You need the PR code which can be found on a sticker in the front of your warranty or service/maintenance booklet. It can also be found on the sticker in the trunk next to your spare.

These are the PR Codes for a 04 A6:
    1LF 312x25mm Rotors = 4 pads
    1LA or 1LG 321x30mm Rotors, ATE Calipers = 4 pads
    1LX 321x30mm Rotors, Girling Calipers = 8 pads

By the way, this is for the front only.
