    Took the plunge...

Well, I took the plunge and purchased an original VAG-COM KEY+USB cable from Ross-Tech.com. I do have an eBay cable but figured that the extra $149.00 between getting the license and having it locked to one computer and getting a cable that would work with any computer is worth the cost.

Now, I primarily purchased VAG-COM to fix my DIS which for some reason isn't working. The component seem to be working fine (wiper stalk buttons), but for some reason it won't cycle through the different modes. Now, would it be wise to just reset the entire ECU before trying anything? I figured that bringing the factory settings might make the DIS work again. How can I reset the ECU? Is it something that can be done with VAG-COM? Also, how do I get the radio code? Is there a way I can avoid going through the dealer. They wanted to charge me $55 to get the code.

Also, what does it mean to clear a code. Does that mean that next time you scan the code won't come up again? Should codes be cleared?

    Re: Took the plunge...

Sweet! Ross-Tech sent me a HEX-USB instead of the KEY-USB adapter as they are out of stock of the KEY-USB. The HEX-USB retailed at $299 which is $50 more than what I paid. Just thought I'd share this with anyone who was curious about their service. Definetely a good company to do business with.
