Anyway to disable the Bluetooth connection chime?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
On my '07 A4 cab with bluetooth, everytime I turn on the car, the radio kicks in and after a few seconds the word "phone" appears along with an annoying loud chime. Is there anyway to disable that other than dropping the pairing with the car? The WAF is low on that.

I've got the Symphony II with Bose as the stock radio.

    Thanks!

I believe you can turn down the chime so it's not annoyingly loud. I'm not sure if I did it right, but what I did was press the SDS button and quickly turn down the volume on my steering wheel control after the beep. It made the chime a lot more subtle and better for the ear.

Re: Anyway to disable the Bluetooth connection chime?

I've been trying this all morning. So, its the "voice command button" essentially that we press, and then roll down the volume on the steering wheel? Do we do this before the chime, after the chime, right when the "phone" message appears on the radio? I need to get rid of that damned chime! Thanks guys

Re: Anyway to disable the Bluetooth connection chime?

ok try this. connect your phone. (*LOUD chime). Press the "Voice Command Button" And just start rolling the volume button down (before the beep, during, after.) Say something that would prompt the voice to say "cancel" and keep rolling that volume down.
That's exactly what I did, and it worked. Unless I missed something. Try it if it doesn't work i'll figure it out again. Mind you it won't disappear completely. Just really subtle instead of deafening.

I have the button on the right side of the steering wheel (next to the volume), but it doesn't do anything. I checked my original window spec sheet and it list "bluetooth phone prep", which does work. But not voice command.. Maybe a difference for the Cabs versus the coupe?

thanks for the instructions....it worked and now the chime is very subtle and nice.

    I have another question though.
is there a way to adjust the initial volume after dialing a number?
in my case, the volume is way to high as I begin to hear the ringing after dialing a number.
I always have to lower the volume (via steering wheel volume button) and it's become an annoyance.
    thanks in advance
