    Problems with the factory Bluetooth?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So one of the options I had to have on my new A4 was Bluetooth. I love the option of my phone linking to my stereo. But, I am having issues with the cars Bluetooth turning off and on at random. I can be on a call and it is dropped because the cars Bluetooth (BT) turns offs. Also while the phone is not in use it will also turn the BT off. It will come back on after some time. I have checked the phone and it is not the problem.

I took my car in for its first 5k maintenance and told the tech about my BT issue. Audi checked the internal error reports in the car and found nothing. Audi also check for any updates and there were not any.

My questions to everyone are you experiencing this problem on your A4? If so, have you found a solution for the BT turning off? Thanks for your help.

Sounds like the phone to me. I have the bluethooth as well and it works great. The only time it does the things you are mentioning is when the phone decided to act funky.

The problem you have described is the same exact problem I have been experiencing with my phone since taking delivery of my car last month. I have the Sprint Mogul and my phone randomly disconnects from the car's bluetooth connection. What's funny about the whole thing is the the bluetooth on the phone somehow gets turned off. The odd thing about it is that when the phone isn't paired with the car, the bluetooth will stay turned on for hours on end until I turn it off. It only behaves abnormally when it is connected to the car.

i have this once in a while with my iPhone. i don't remember it ever dropping bluetooth during a call, but it will pwn the call if i get in the car and turn it on while on the call. when the bluetooth does drop, it always picks up again within a few seconds. it's annoying though cause it's usually in the middle of a good song

Re: Problems with the factory Bluetooth?

I am sure the problem is not my phone. I have a blue light on the phone that blinks when the BT is on. When the car turns off the BT and it gives the audible tone though the stereo and the dash board comes up with BT off my phone is still blinking the blue light. I have also checked the phone to make sure it is on. I leave the phone in the cup holder so the range of the phone from the stereo should not be a problem.

It’s frustrating to pay that much for an option on the car and it does not work well. Don’t even get me started on the crappie IPOD connection.

the same thing happens to me! i took it in to schnieder-nelson audi and they couldnt find anything either. my bluetooth works fine as long as im using the fone but about 30 seconds after i hang up it disconnects and 5 seconds later my phone asks if i want to reconnect. its annoying as hell to keep having to reconnect, and i thought it was the fone but now that i found out im not the only one, i know it has to be the car. wtf audi??

Try using another phone. I've noticed that it doesn't like some phone's bluetooth very much. My iPhone works flawlessly except for a really loud beep before you call someone.

I have a Motorola rizer phone and it works flawlessly. Do you have your phone linked to any other bluetooth devices, such as a head set? Or have you linked your car to anyother phones? Just a stab in the dark, but maybe there is some fighting going on between devices.

nope only my phone no headsets. and another problem i found is that when your phone searches for the cars bluetooth signal it could only find it right after the car has been turned on, for some reason if i drive for 5 minutes then search for devices, it will say no devices found.

Good idea but, my phone is only linked to the car. How can we get Audi to address the problem? I am going to see if my tech can open a service record on this BT problem.

I have had this problem with a new phone that i had picked up. it would shut off all the time. It is the phone. I returned my new phone for another and my Blackberry works like a charm. no problems whatso ever, and i can access my phonebook through the Display on the car. Call Audi and ask them for a list of the phones that AUdi says will work with the BT. those are going to be the ones that Audi will stand by.

wait...from this, it sounds like you expect the bluetooth connection to remain even if you turn the car (and radio) completely off. the connection stays as long as the radio has power, but if you remove the key, that's it.

this is your phone. i had a samsung slider (it was purple *yech* and looked like an elephant suppository) that would do the same thing with a motorola headset. i have a friend who works at moto on these things and confirmed with multiple different moto phones that it was my samsung phone. dig through your phone's settings to see if there's some sort of bluetooth auto-off "feature" or take it to where you bought it and pitch a fit/ask for help.

Not all the bluetooth phones are compatible with the system. Blackberrys will work great. Or you can call Audi USA to find out which phones are compatible to the system.
