    Electric fan kit for FMIC

Does anyone have an electric fan kit for the FMIC...I know VAST has one, but I was looking for a picture of one installed. Any feedback on how well it works would be appreciated as well.

    Thanks, John

Re: Electric fan kit for FMIC

That seems to look about right. I have one and it seems to work good, even though I don't know much about them. My engine temp never goes much over right down the center and oil temp never goes over 250. I've had my car in over 100 degree weather and running full throttle here and there too. The only thing for me is that they are pretty loud, but only from the outside. Inside the car sounds normal but once your outside and or around walls and stuff you can really hear it when it kicks on. On top of that it seems to kick on frequently when in traffic or parked with the car on. Sometimes even when you shut the car off it will stay on for a while, at least on mine it does. Like I said before I don't know much about them but this is what I've experienced in the last month or so of having it installed. Hope that helps.

Ah Ok...so it goes behind the FMIC and replaces the heavy stock fan.

A side note. I installed his with it tapped into the factory signal wire that will trigger the fan at 95c or if the A/C is on. Being that the FMIC gets rid of the Aux fan that kicks on to help cool the A/C condensor the EFK if properly installed needs to come on when the A/C is on (it even kicks in when it is in defrost mode) or when the car is hot. Being it is the middle of summer and you probably have the A/C on that is why it does that.

My FMIC kit comes with paper instructions and a 14 minute video on how to install the fan kit.

Some people hook it up directly to the fog light wires with no relay, however that circuit can't supply the full 30 amps to the hi flow fans and it will run at a slower speed. I had a guy come in who installed his without the relay and he kept blowing fuses. So I at least set him up with a relay and used his fog light switch to trigger it.

The problem with this is, you don't know when the A/C kicks on in moderate temperatures (maybe only for 30 seconds) so you may not turn the fan on when it is needed. This lack of airflow to the A/C condensor allows it to get hotter than it should, this in turn creates higher pressures in your A/C sytem, thus making the A/C compressor work harder. Luckily though the factory has a safety high pressure switch that will turn the compressor off when the pressure gets in the high 300 psi to low 400 psi range (too lazy to look up the exact number right now)

The condensor is the thing in front of the radiator that cools the Freon back down after it has been warmed up from going through the evaporator under the dash to cool you down.

P.S. I got your email and will email you back today.

See my response above as well.

It replaces the factory belt driven Fan. And when you install an FMIC, since it requires you to get rid of the Auxilary fan for the A/C it tends to do well with an EFK in hotter climates since it will flow more air than the stock fan, thus making up for the now missing Auxilary fan.

    Hope that info helps.

So Jason you've installed the Vast fan tapped into the factory A/C fan connector?

I don't hook it straight up to the old Aux fan connector since that is only powered up with the A/C and not the temp. It is designed assuming you still have the stock fan. But the EFK eliminates the stock fan. So I followed the original VAST wiring diagram and wired up the relay myself and allowed a certain brown wire to ground the control side of the included relay. Then it kicks on when the A/C is on and the motor reaches 95f. I do them all this way. It is in the VASt instructions and I cover it also in my video that comes in with my FMIC kit.
