    CVT performance mods?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Help....Had a '07 a4 2.0t CVT for the last 2 years and just started to look into mods. Wanted to go to stage 3, however.... the more i look the less i see can be done with it due to the CVT... Does anyone know of a turbo kit (existing or in the works) that won't trash the tranny? Can someone recommend exhaust? Can I used a test pipe? Can I upgrade the CVT to handle more torque? Sorry, I am a newbie, apologize for all of the questions. Can anything be done or do I just need to get a quattro 6 speed?

    Re: CVT performance mods?

It will cost you less money in the long run to trade in for a six speed than to build up the CVT to hold 400 horses.

    Re: CVT performance mods?

I'm new to the Audi CVT tranny, but if it is anything like the Nissan CVT tranny, there is really not a whole lot you can do.

I had an 07 Maxima before, and the tranny was garbage.
I really doubt that you will be able to achieve 400hp with a stock automatic tranny. That's about double the output that the engine puts out.
The problem with the CVT would be that there are no gears to switch out and make stronger...

Thats what i was afraid of. Well now i gotta sell my car, and decide if I want the b7 or b8, or wait 2 more years and get a good deal on an 07 RS4

    Re: CVT performance mods?

You can get a great deal on the new 08's right now. Dealers seem to be trying to get rid of them before the B8's come out. It might be a little tough to find one that is exactly the car you are looking for, but it would be a great time to get into a new car.

I love the manual tranny after coming from the CVT in my Maxima and I'm never looking back.

You guys think tranny will survive stage 2? Can someone recommend an exhaust and test pipe that will work with the cvt?

Either kep it stock, or sell it and buy a MT.
When it comes to mods, MT is ALWAYS the way to go...

I have my car modified since 5k and I'm now with 34k. As you see on my signature I run APR 93 at all times with TP. The only thing I'm missing is the exhaust. So far so good!!!

    Re: CVT performance mods?

if you guys don't mind buying off of ebay (from a seller with decent feed back score, of course), you can take advantage of the "live.com" cashback program. There is a seller named "turbochargersco" selling it for 700 + 40 shipping. after 20% cash back, that'd be 700 + 40 - 140, for 600 shipped. The guy have about 1000 feedback, 96.7% positive, so i think it's worth a try. If you guys want more details, PM me and i'll explain the restrictions to you.

    Re: CVT performance mods?

Ok cvt people stop being such pussies ( Sorry I just had to say it ), the trans can easily handle stage 2.

If anything I'm the one who should be worried about putting 400hp through it.

I have had stage II for two years now and nitrous for a few months now. 5 bottles and still going strong.

As long as the wheels spin off the line you should be good.

Yeah, this would be the best demonstration of the power. I always hear that the thing can't handle too much power, but haven't heard of anyone actually destroying one. Mine is fine, but I am only running REVO stg1.

    Re: CVT performance mods?

i agree with HID. CVT, i am pretty sure you can max out your stock K03 as much as possible and still be operating under the cvt's max. That means chip, intake, exhaust, pipe, fuel pump, etc. should work no problems. Once you can push your K03 no further that is when you need to work on that trans having moved to a bigger turbo.
