    About rim weight

Previous, I open a thread regarding replica rims. I understood that the weight is an important issue. Therefore I asked the seller what's the weight of 1 rim. The seller answered that it will be about 26 lbs per rim. Is it too heavy?

    Re: About rim weight

That all depends on the size of the wheel and the design of the wheel. If that was the weight for a 19x8.5 single piece cast wheel, that is pretty normal. Most of the 19x8.5 single piece cast wheels I have dealt with usually weigh in at the mid 20lb range.

it's 17x7.5" only. That means it's too heavy?

    Re: About rim weight

26 lbs is not too terrible. OEMs are no lightweights, so I would guess you are not going to notice any difference.

There are plenty of people with rs4 reps, prolly wait for one of them to chime in!

If your objective is to get lighter wheels then, yes, it is too heavy.
If you just want to replace the factory wheels for looks then it is fine.
My factory 17x7.5" wheels are about 28lbs in that design whereas my aftermarket 17x8" wheels are only around 21 lbs. If you want to spend some money you can get as low as 15 or 16 lbs in those sizes but maybe not that design.

    Re: About rim weight

The stock 17x8 S4 Avus wheel is 28 pounds. The S4 ran those in the winter and 15.5 pound Koseis in the summer and the difference between the two sets wasn't as dramatic as I thought. The lighter wheels let the suspension feel more active and rode a little better but it wasn't a massive difference - big enough to be felt though.

    Re: About rim weight

I ran 18" OZs for a while, they are slightly over 18lbs. I'm now running 16" Mercedes CLK rims, they are forged and about 13lbs apiece. Significant improvement in acceleration, real world handling, and fuel mileage. Remember also that different tire brand/construction can vary 3-4 lbs for same size and cross section. An 18" wheel will place that tire weight further out than a 16" wheel.

How much do the 10 spoke 2001 sport wheels weight? According to ETKA, they are lightweight... Wish I would have known that before selling mine!

If they are the same design as my 2001 sport rims (sorry, no picture handy) then 28lbs. I don't think they are light weight at all which is why I replaced them (that and I hate the design even though a lot of other people seem to love it). I'll sell you mine if you really want them.

    Re: About rim weight

Keep in mind tires are heavy too so don't think the rim is the only thing that determines the overall weight.

Do they still have tires on them? You wanna trade for some black B6 sport wheels?

If you like those ones you pointed out on ebay... look into them in 18s, I think the 18"s look better than 17s IMO
