Sorry for the long link, no time to shorten it. Now, would this make me look extremely gay? I know most of you probably appreciate Imola but how about on an avant. Is that like a double negative? Good price with low miles.. not 6-speed but I drive in lots of traffic so no big deal.

You are pretty backwards compared to the typical S4 owner. Most would rather have an avant, especially in a color like Imola. The possibility of my Nogaro Avant making me look gay never crossed my mind. When I first saw this post I thought you were being sarcastic since its such a desired combo.

Well, I found the car and showed my friend, which to no surprise, said it would make anyone look gay. I kinda started this as a "does this make my butt look big?" sort of thing ;). I love Imola, just never imagined an imola avant.

Avants, Passat Wagons, you name it. Girls hate it. It makes you look funny to them and reminds them of a camping nerd hippie. In fact, I think a good chunk of girls don't even like hatch-backs. And please don't go refer to the cool girls who show up at H20 and shit, because we're talking about the average person here.

Now I personally think Avants are cool. It's awesome to see a fucking wagon beating a whole bunch of cars, and I think I'd get one just to do that. But as far as show points go, I'd take my Nogaro sedan over anything "Avant" any day for daily driving purposes. When's the last time you heard a person say, "Damn, yea his car is so nice. I love his station wagon..."

I'm not much into wagons except Audi's Avants, they are by far the best wagons I've seen and I like them. That car is sick! Like JayyyyyC said, most girls aren't much into those cars because.... they are girls, they are stupid, what do they know about cars right? Anyways my only thing is that it's not manual, I personally never buy automatic cars but that's just me.

The B5 S4 is a very understated car, especially if you don't understand or appreciate it. I'm not trying to be insulting, but I'm assuming you in a Nogaro sedan get less compliments than somebody with a Z3 from the general public. You, I and everybody else on here or with a knowledge of the B5 S4 knows how worthless Z3's are.
Perhaps I am completely off base. I am think of high teens, low twenties girls here. I recently saw a facebook picture of a girl I graduated HS with leaning on a 1st gen SLK280 with the caption something along the lines of "This car was so cool, I want it so bad!"

You know what I'm saying.

One of my friend's mom had a station wagon when I was young. And I guess it's for that reason that Avants look like mommy cars to me. They're heavier, look too long, and have a silly antenna and racks on the roof and not to mention that the hatch back look, at least for me doesn't suit the car. And on top of that you're adding Power Ranger yellow? this just wouldn't be the formula for my car.

But this is just my humble opinion. Audi made different styles and colors for different people, and that's respectable.

Very good points. Yes you are right. I get 10 times LESS compliments than peers who have M3s and 350zs...

But that's what I like best about our S4s. It's super sleeper =)

To the OP... Just get the car you think you'd be comfortable driving in. If women are indeed the reason you're getting a new car, perhaps it would be best to stay away from the avant. Just my humble opinion. But like I mentioned in my post above, it's always cool and fun to see avants ripping apart sports cars. If that's something you think you'll dig, go for it!

As an Avant owner, the more I think about it, I'm not sure how happy you will be with this car. If you are in your high teens or low twenties you will constantly be second guessing the looks of your car. Trust me, if you are even in the least bit unsure, when you start getting flack from your friends, it will just give you buyers remorse.

Wait a bit longer and find what gets you excited to go out and drive when you wake up. Also, hold out for a 6-speed....wayyyy worth it.

I like my Stage 3 B5 Noggy sedan, but have grown to love my S6 Avant. The wagon is the daily driver, and the S4 is the scare the shit out of the wife car, she will not drive it, too much torque, but she loves to stomp on the V8 with gas being almost $5.00 / gallon in So Cal. I wish the S4 was an Avant, just love peoples face when they try and screw with you on the road, GAME OVER!!!

i wanted to buy a 95 s6 avant awhile back as a DD car and my ex-girlfriend told me that she wouldnt be caught dead in a wagon, in fact she would dump me if i drove a wagon...needless to say,she is my EX hahaha.

but most girls wont give you a second look if youre driving an avant,unless its dumped,loud and has some 19" iforged wheels or something.

i love avants. wish my s4 was one.
