What's the going rate for a full alignment?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was quoted bout $300 bucks for a "full body" alignment... That sounds outrageous... I've heard of the S4 getting a subframe alignment along with a 4wheel alignment but $300 bucks!!! I have gotten a quote from the dealer yet but wanted to get an average rate for aligning a 01 S4.. Oh, residing in the Kansas City metro area also.

    Thanks.

go to firestone and get the lifetime 4-wheel alignment for $150 (or something like that)... you can go in there 5 days a week and it won't cost you another penny.

Really? So a one time payment of $150 gets you unlimited alignments? That rocks if it works!

Otherwise there is a place around here that does 4 wheel alignments for $75 and they are a very reputable shop here.

Re: What's the going rate for a full alignment?

I had the firestone alignment. It was ok for a while, but they ended up damaging the car, were very unreliable, and would say they aligned it but refuse to give me a spec sheet, I took it to another shop, and they didn't change a thing. I have the lifetime alignment, but I will never go back. Note that I am in St. Louis and went to several different firestones. Plus, once I got my adjustable upper control arms, they won't touch camber. I ended up asking the local SCCA guys and found someone who works at a local Sears that will do align to your specs while you watch for $60.

IMHO, ask the local SCCA for a specific person. f*** firestone...

Re: What's the going rate for a full alignment?

I have had a "lifetime alignment" on every car I buy because I always end up doing suspension, adjusting coilovers, etc.

it is a always a good idea although make sure the place you are buying it from uses high end equipment for custom wheels and uses laser at minimum...

Les scwab here in Elk Grove refused to even touch my car. Something about having to remove the steering wheel and "special tools required." I cut my losses and went to the dealership. $149.

Re: What's the going rate for a full alignment?

I recently had my TC replaced by an Audi mechanic on the side and he did my alignment after hours for $100. He said that the proper method of alignment involves loosening the sub frame to correctly adjust and he said most mechanics even at the dealership won't bother doing this. He said generally the alignment would cost $150-$200 most likely.

Re: What's the going rate for a full alignment?

$109 from the Audi dealers around here. That's for a 4 wheel alignment and a subframe alignment, if it needs it.

I did not know firestone had a lifetime alignment offer. That would have saved me a TON of money. I've had like 4 alignments this past year :-/

NTB and all the other places do the unlimited alignments too. Check who does the best work in town and ask them about it. I got quoted 1 year unlimited -$100, 3 year unlimited $140, and 5 year unlimited - $180

Re: What's the going rate for a full alignment?

Thanks for all the reply folks... Have any of you gotten any problems with having coilovers when getting an alignment from the dealer? The shop I got quoted $300 buck was supposedly from a reputable porche/audi shop too but $300 bucks is just too expensive.
