bored of what, the torque and speed...you'll regret it once you sit in thos non-supportive, NON-Recaro seats and you'll here the loud 4cyl engine in your cabin and then you'll say to yourself, "where's the power" If it's for fuel saving costs, dont even bother, keep the S4. If it's other reasons, then do what you have to do.

    Good luck

Sure if you want to downgrade then spend yet more money to upgrade just to get close to the S4 numbers. The A4 is a bit lighter and gets a better fuel mileage, so it has that going for it. Why not just debadge the S4, get it repainted or custom body kit?

trade it for the a4, you'll retain more value. PLus gas, plus modability. S4's are cool but i don't think i'd want one for a daily after owning one.

Read this trade thread on the a4 forum. I'm still shocked. I got my A4 in January, but my next car is definitely going to be a b7 s4.

    Good luck with your decision.

Of couse I am. The S4 is 320lbs heavier in the nose, how is it that you think that makes the S4 a better handling car over the A4?

You have yet to answer my question. Here's a thought, why don't you stop hijacking someone else's thread, start a new one titled "Why S4s handle better than the A4s" opening with your argument and I'll gladly post a reply?

He's not hijacking anything. You brought up the handling. Just because he disagrees with you doesn't mean he's hijacking.

S4 has better suspension geometry, lower ride height, stiffer springs and shocks, and thicker sway bars. That's what makes it handle better. The A4 may be more neutral and balanced but stock for stock an S4 will out corner an A4.

But with anything less than a BT, an A4 2.0T cannot compete with an S4.

Back to the thread: the A4 is a far superior daily driver considering the high gas prices and is still fun to drive. You're making a good choice.

Im doing the oppisite....Im still keeping my A4 Avant but am stepping UP to an S4. The A4 is a great car dont get me wrong, I currently get 30+mpg with the 1.8T going to and from work....but as far as fun is concerned....not even close. I had an 06 A3 2.0T, it was a cool car but I didnt like how it drove, dont know why but just didnt care for the drivetrain. Anyway good luck wth your decision for what ever reason it is, aka gas milage or just a newer lower milage car.

Re: I dont know if I should say bye

Objectively speaking, a B7 A4 S-Line is equipped with the sports suspension and similar 18in performance tires. Ride height is near identical. The A4 also has less weight and better weight distribution than an S4. It is very possible that an A4 S-Line could outhandle an S4. I know this is the wrong forum to make that statement, but it likely is true.

The S4 is still a better overall car. The only reason I can see the OP making the switch is for a less expensive car.

Playing devils advocate : A BT A4 1.8T or 2.0T will wipe the floor with an S4. But that is an extensive level of modification, even if its all bolt on.

Stock vs stock yes but obviously Louis and OP are talking about modded suspensions, therefore Louis is saying that the weight difference after a a4 is lowered and thicker sway bars are added that is has better handling.

well I made my mind up and im not going to go through with it. I just didnt make sense to buy another B7. I would be my third B7. I wish I could have both engines but the S4 at the end of the day is a better car. Everyone of my friends and family members thought I was on crack. Im just going to wait untill the lease ends in 16 months and my a move on an A5 or A4 S-Line.

Good idea. The B8 A4s are going to be so much better than the B7s that it will be worth waiting. Plus who knows, maybe that sexy 3.0TDi will be here by then )
