comes out to
280/16.4= 17.07 in the city HORRRIBLEEEEEEEE

highway..i feel like it was 300-310
310/16.4= 18.90
300/16.4= 18.29

full tank of gas is
between 4.34 and 4.53 in my area...
that comes to
4.34 x 16.4= 71.17
4.53 x 16.4= 74.29

my s4 is daily driven, and i drive all around for work, i have 108,xxx miles on it...i might think about swappin cars when im in dc to get my work done, but the thing is i love the sound, the attention and the stereo system in my car...I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!! lol

I usually see between 22mpg (City and Highway Mix) and 25mpg (Straight Highway).

My last all-highway tank did 434 miles. It was 17.1gallons, which was right around 25mpg.

In Northern va also, traveling 16 miles to work one way. Taking the toll road from chantilly to tysons II area in the morning with stop and go from fall to begining of summer i averaged 17.5 to 18.4 mpg.

Summer time - ive been averaging 20-21.5 mpg since i can now coast on the toll road with average spd of 60-70mph with minimum stop and go.

I fill up once a week at shell on the weekends because of thier special, its like .10 cents off of premium which takes it to 4.25 for 93.

16.4 doesn't include the government mandated reserved. Mine has done 17.06. The regulation, I think, is like 22 miles reserve, so that is why. Of course, they measure the tank volume and the filler neck may take another .25 - .5 gallon. 24MPG for me, 26 highway, and about 20-22 in-town, 85k miles on the clock....

Stage 3 here and I get 26+ mpg on a tank of gas on the highway Man I love this car.

With a tank of gas doing mixed driving I usually get around 22. I usually drive pretty nice around town though, there really is no need to get crazy I mean really.

Your math isn't right, you cant just divide it by 16.4. You have to wait till you fill up and see how much you put in. I have zero problems getting 25mpg with a mix of city/highway.

I average about 350 a tank, and about 14.5 gallons. Which comes out to be 24.13mpg. My dash normally says 25-26mpg averaged. I drive 23 miles one way to work, going about 60-65 with light traffic and just a few stops. The most I've seen was 423 miles and 15.7 gallons...which figures out to be 27.07 mpg...


btw--my car has about 115k, ornignal turbos.

I do all highway driving on my commute to work. I think that helps a lot...I recently moved and have a longer commute now but I'm getting better gas mileage! 280 is Ok for mixed driving I would think. I was getting about 20less than that when I had a bad EGT sensor..

When driving in the city, shift at 2500rpm or less and when going 40mph+ be in 6th.
Also, you don't need to fly off the line at every stop sign or light.

Something to consider - not necessarily a good idea to run your tank down to virtually zero - can dredge up all kinds of deposits & gunk from bottom of gas tank into your engine which is not a good thing - jmho, tho

Im stage 3 and get around 18mpg on mixed driving styles, and highway/semi stop and go. The most I put in is around 13.5-14 gallons once the light comes on. I just got a new fuel filter and Im up from around 15mpg to 18mpg, so maybe think about that.

To the OP... When you get 280 miles to the tank, I'm almost certainly 100% sure you're only using up about 13 gallons at most there. I ride 30 miles after the light comes on to fill up after 300 miles usually. I fill in between 14 gallons to 14.5 gallons usually. So your gas mileage is a lot better than you think actually.

After careful analysis and revision of my gas spreadsheet, I've come up with these results:

Avg amount pumped to fully fuel my car: 11.23 gallons
Avg miles per gallon that I get from above results: 19.39MPG

19.39 is not bad for mixed hwy/city driving.

** Note ** I don't let my car run all the way empty. Like I said in a previous post, I usually full up my car with either 1/4 tank left or a little bit over the red tickie.

That's why we got fuel filters and have them replaced every once in a while =)

Dayam, I'm jealous of some of you 25+mpg guys. I think I average about 19-20mpg nowadays, stg 2. With my old APR chip, I got I think 28-29mpg all highway on a roadtrip. With my GIAC X, I think the most I've ever gotten was 25-26mpg?
I am not a lead foot nowadays too, but seems like mileage is getting worse with age. My 00 has less than 90K too! I change my oil(GC 0W30) and it has Bosch Platins that need to be changed soon. I think my turbos have seen its best days behind them too.

With Stage 3 I got 24.8mpg on highway and part of that was climbing the hills of Lake Tahoe on my way through. I was also averaging about 85mph on most of that tank. So I was thinking I might be able to get 26mpg at best. While driving as hard as I can I was hitting between 15 and 16mpg. Just did these testes last week. Pretty impressed with the kind of power I have.

Infinite mpg. I put the car in neutral and throw a rope around the first tractor trailer that passes by.

Actually, I calculated 10 mpg during my last fill-up, but that was b/c the whole tank was spent doing test and tune.

I have a very long commute of 5.1 miles to work. Back and forth 5 days a week with a detour onto about a mile stretch of highway and get up to 110-120mph every now and then. I've been averaging 19.3 mpg since I've gotten the car a couple months ago and is much better than my 12.2mpg from my 96 grand cherokee!!

+2 you did you math totally incorrect. You divide by the gallons filled up and not the capacity of the fuel tank.
