What does a knock sound like?

I actually first noticed this sound during the heat of last summer but it's much more common now that I have my K04 installed. So what happens is I got WOT in 2nd or 3rd gear at about 2900rpms, I reach full boost and it holds and at about 3800-4000+ I hear knock knock knock, sounds kinda like belt slap so I let off the gas. I don't have a FMIC so is this sound engine knock cause by high IAT's?

i wouldnt run a K04 without upgraded intercooling unless you are somewhere with a mild summer

Unfortunately that is not the case right now. It's been over 100 everyday when I leave work but I'm mostly just cruising on the freeway so it's ok. It definitely is knocking then so I'll just have to take it easy until I have the money for an FMIC. Is it serious enough that I should have the REVO dealer tune down my settings or can I drive it conservatively so it doesn't knock for now?
