APR Stealth Mufflers + Straight pipes???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ran a search but couldn't find any definitive answers. Just wondering if anyone has done straight pipes from the cat with these mufflers. Would love to get some feedback on how it would sound... too loud? too raspy? Just picked up the mufflers and am dropping it off in the morning for the install. I have a small window to decide whether to keep the stock resonator or just delete it all together. TIA.

That would be the same sound as the APR Sport. I believe the APR Sport is the same as the Stealth but without the center resonator under the rear seats. So, straight pipe out to the two mufflers.

If I had the APR Sport I'd get a headache. My car is loud enough (just right) with a HFC and my APR Stealth on the 2.0L.

Thanks Dougyfresh.. can any APR Sport exhaust owners chime in with some feedback on sound levels? Found a vid on youtube but the person also had a TP on the car so that definitely would make a difference.

^^ I was afraid of having the high in car levels.. but I guess if its too loud I can always cut out the Y-pipe and put on a resonator.

I always found the stealth exhaust to sound perfect. Very little (if not none) drone on the highway. No raspy sounds. It sounds even better with my 2.0 and I'm also running a HFC. Still no drone on the highway which is exactly what I care about (90% of my driving in this car is on the highway)

to be honest with you i blame the noise on my tp. i think if i was running a stock cat it would have not been as loud. the rasp from the tp really screws with the tone of the exhaust

^^ Good to know..cause I will have the stock cat plus stock downpipe since I only picked up the mufflers. I'll just look to upgrade the downpipe later on when I have the extra money laying around.

i say stay away from the APR exhausts because they are prone to cracking! i'd just get an AWE system and call it a day, they sound better and cost less!

Do you have a good video of your neuspeed setup? I was really looking into it but couldn't get a good feel for how raspy it is.
