Is there a way to install aftermarket speakers without changing my deck (tapping into the old amp, getting a new amp, etc.)?
If I were to get a new head unit, what would match the interior best (pics if you got any)? And would that mess up the cluster instrument if I swapped out the stock stereo?
PS - Sorry if this was discussed already, I couldn't find any real difinitive answers...
The only way the cluster display would be affected is that it won't show any radio information.
If you have a 2din radio (the tall one) make sure to do a custom dash installation instead of using the dash kit. I have tried the dash kit twice and the kit falls apart and looks really crappy in a month or two.
You will need an antenna
adaptor to plug the antenna in to your radio. Your current radio might also provide power to the antenna through the antenna's coax cable. If so then you will need an adaptor such as
this. I forget how to tell if you need the powered adapter. Do a search. Crutchfield said I didn't need the powered adapter but I did.
I have a Kenwood KDC-X990 that looks pretty good but it's a couple of years old and you would be hard pressed to find one. It has some red lights and some blue ones and a color screen. It's so hard to find a really classy looking deck nowadays. The young folks these things are marketed to have no since of style anymore. The Pioneer Premier line has some classy looking stuff but I don't think it has any red lights on any of it. If I were buying a deck today I would probably go with the Pioneer Premier DEH-P800PRS.
