Unhappy 98 A4 coil spring broken

In Jan of this year, heard a rattle in back. Dealership found broken right rear coil spring. Total cost to replace was $312. Now, July, the left rear coil spring is broken. Seems like coil springs should last a lot longer than 160,000 miles. I don't know of anything that was run-over to cause this. Any others had the same problem?

This hasn't happen to me but, I believe 160k is pretty good life out of a spring. Now if you broke a spring with 50k on it then there is something wrong.

It happened to me two weeks ago and I have only 81k miles...but we have a lot of snow where I live, which means RUST!
