    Question about APR Chip

Got a question about the chip. First, I've got a CH box. Were the earlier tunes done with socketed chips? I know they know offer OBD flashing but I'm about to buy a 93 program and the guy I'm buying from says it's an actual chip with a a board. Does this need to be soldered into my ECU or can I just remove the factory chip and plug n play?

I understand that they do flashes now. But were the earlier ones soldered chips?

    Re: Question about APR Chip

Not entirely sure what you're asking here, but B5's can be chipped or flashed.
EMCS1 is the older style chip module and no longer used. You should upgrade it to EMCS2.

These chips are indeed soldered onto the board.

    Re: Question about APR Chip

Thanks...that's the answer I was looking for. I'm buying a used chip off a forum. Just wanted to make sure it would work. What's the difference between EMCS1 and 2? How much is it to upgrade?

    Re: Question about APR Chip

The chips designs and programming connectors are different between EMCS 1 and 2.

Here's a link to the physical differences.

Give your local APR dealer a call to discuss pricing.
