Should i Buy this, need advice?

So I am in the market for a white A5. It looks to me like most A5 s-lines are going for a few grand over list. Or i could wait 6 months and pay less, but i have ADD and would love to have the car now.

I have a dealer near me that is will do MSRP on an white S5 about a month out for delivery. Is MSRP a good deal right now?

what are other people paying?

From what I heard some people are paying 10k over MSRP on the east coast. But the decision is yours. If you do, please post some pics:)

Just don't pay anything higher than MSRP. If you can get it in a month at MSRP, i will say go for it. My Audi dealer, largest in Ohio, said the waiting list is so long that I will need to wait a year for a S5.

I haven't heard of any consistent stories of anyone getting under MSRP so I would go for it if that's what you're willing to pay.

Borg, I saw you're in SF. Is this Audi of Oakland? I was talking to them a week ago about an October delivery S5 MT6. They wanted MSRP and I wanted a slight discount with Audicare. They said no so I passed. I think MSRP is fair right now, but I wanted better than fair and I was willing to wait. The sales person mentioned that they get 1-2 S5's a month, so I think I'll be fine purchasing at the end of the year. Given the weather in CA is so mild, I don't think the quattro is as significant a selling point as in other areas.

OTOH, if this wasn't Audi of Oakland (or even if it was really), then I think the tide for '09 might be changing a little. With a lot of early adopters catered to, increased production, the B8 A4/S4, and ever increasing gas prices (yes, it matters), hopefully we'll see better deals on S5's.

Dagger - ha ha yes it was Audi of Oakland. I agree that in a few months the price on this car will come down. i think the fact that the new '09 pricing is so similar to the '08 is evidence of that.

Anyway i have never been good about waiting. I blame MTV for that ;) so i went ahead and ordered the White S5 yesterday!

I think it is an okay deal and i am fine with that.

Answer to your question: depends.

For me, not many cars I would buy on first sight, much less no test drive, yet that's how I came to purchasing my Ibis White A5. It's a huge step up from my 1998 Passat, the last car I purchased 10 years ago... thank god for technology!








I do need to thank 'win' aka Anthony, when he brought his S5 to Santana Row a couple of months ago. Convinced me white is an excellent color.

okay, that's what people said up here. But based on my experience of talking to people I know from my local dealer, the price is MSRP now only at SOME dealers in big city. Wait a bit, look on Cars, Autotraders or even Ebay. Email/call the sellers asking for the price you want. People up here are addicted. Be smart with all those hard earn money!

Wow, you have my number on that car (except it's an S5) I'd love to do the brakes but from your quote, I'll have to wait a few years. My wife insisted I do NOT mod. the car. However, she didn't say anything about upgrading... :D

BTW: carbon air box: what benefits are derived? Or is it simply a dress item?

tell your wife or girl friend that diamond is made of carbon, so carbon fiber is similar to diamond.
