Can you put springs only on the front?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was considering the conservative drop of the Eibach springs on my non-quattro B7, but after putting my wheels on with a 35mm offset, the rear fender is filled nicely on the stock sport suspension. However, the front is still a little high for my taste. I havent come across another thread talking about it, but can you put lowering springs on just the front of your vehicle to even the gaps?

Before you explain to me how coilovers are a better option, and how springs can wear out the stock shocks; dont sweat it, I already know.

Re: Can you put springs only on the front?

Yes, of course you can. Nothing is stopping you from doing what you want. Is it a good idea? Not particularly. It will upset your car's handling causing it to understeer more, which is already a problem on our cars, but if you don't drive it hard there's nothing to worry about.

Re: Can you put springs only on the front?

Thanks for the info. So youre basically saying that a stiffer front suspension would cause handling issues?

Anyone else have any experience with this?

I have seen anyone sell just 2 springs for our cars! why not just do all 4 and be happier with the front and rear?

Re: Can you put springs only on the front?

I wanted to even it out a little. Im happy with the rear as is. I'll probably end up doing all 4, I was just exploring some other options.

well...w/ the stasis street sport coils, the preset settings have the rears about 1/8 of an inch higher than the front.

I also can't stand how are cars are higher in the front. Unfortunately I cannot afford coilovers now that I'm getting married so I learned to live with it the way it is. Either do it right or don't do it at all.

Re: Can you put springs only on the front?

If you alter just the front your going to have different spring rates in the front compared to the rear and your car is going to ride like a clown car IMO.

Like malby said, do it right or don't do it at all.

The Stasis set up has the rears higher? Audi, along with most other manufacturers, has the front suspension a little higher, so Im surprised to hear that the Statis set up does the reverse.

That's what the instructions state. However, I'm having mine adjusted to 25" all around

Re: Can you put springs only on the front?

I wouldn't do it. Your car will look and handle weird. Depending on how much it is lowered, and what kind of springs/rates.

Re: Can you put springs only on the front?

like the above have already said, do it right or don't do it at all.

Most if not all aftermarket spring manufacturers have a smaller drop for the rear springs (thus creating an even drop in the front and rear). honestly it doesn't make much sense only having lowering springs in the front.

I was goign to go with the more conservative Eibach Pro Kit that lists an even 1.2" drop for both front and back. On the sport suspension, it will only be about 0.5", but it will still be uneven. I think Im just going to have to live with it, unless I go with coilovers.

    Thanks for all the info/advise.
