so im thinking of getting the ECS BBK with the Cayenne calipers for my S4. Has anyone had any problems with them? ive heard on one occasion that someone had problems with the lightweight rotors that ECS makes... was that an isolated incident? i know they are really heavy.. but ehh... what are you going to do!

I have a Nogaro B6 S4... with gunmetal RS-GTs... you guys think i should go with the red calipers? different color?

Anyone have a pic with the Jazz Blue calipers? I have a feeling they will look really tacky, but just want to have a look.. thanks!

If you have them frozen you shouldn't have any problems with them. Not sure whether I would buy their rotors and risk having problems with them.

Their are a few companies that will "freeze" the rotors for you.

    Costs about 50-60/rotor.

plus shipping and rotors weigh so much, they aren't cheap to ship.

I had a very annoying droning noise that came from mine on occasion. Think I had a warped rotor from the factory. Besides the noise they were great. Think my situation was a rare one.

A normal rotor would be expensive to ship. These rotors only weight 15 lbs each. You're right tho, got to figure in shipping costs.

But then again, if I was gonna invest $1800 on this kit, I'de spend the extra $250 to make sure they will last and not "warp"

if I were to spend 1800 on a ECS kit, I'd pony up and buy a real BBK from stoptech, brembo, or alcon

Stoptech is reasonably affordable, brembo and alcon you are talking $3k+...

Minimum Stoptech is gonna run you around $2700, so you are still almost $800-$1k more than the ECS kit. Don't get me wrong, probably wouldn't buy the ECS kit in the first place. Would be nice to have another low cost option out there...

lol brembo & alcon are twice the price of ecs porsche 'kit'... and the stoptech kit will be about 1k more as well... ap racing, movit, wilwood, and those zmevius are all going to be a nice chunk of change.

Take you money and buy a real BBK.

Don't want to skimp on the only part of your car that stops you.

    Agreed 100%
If you're gonna go brand new, don't get ECS Stage 4's.

IMO ECS Brakes are mainly for looks. The stock rear/front brakes are very well balanced and it's hard for me to believe that Cayenne calipers perform better than the stock brakes.
I would not pay $1800 + shipping for these. I bought these used for $900 and I'm very happy with them (for the money), especially after repainting them, but performance wise, I cannot say that these perform better. Maybe because I still have stock brakes in the rear, maybe they'll perform better with upgraded rear brakes like S8 calipers but that's another $1000 project, LOL.

Also, if you get the ECS brakes, I'd suggest you to buy the red calipers. The other colors are painted by ECS and the paint they use it pretty shitty. They just paint over the original red paint, no primer in between, nothing. My black ones were pilling off pretty bad and it looked like ish. A drop of brake fluid and you'll find your calipers pilling off.

Regarding fitment, the stock wheels will not fit over these calipers. You may need a spacer.

And regarding the rotors that come with the ECS brakes, I've had no problems whatsoever. I'm the 2nd owner of these brakes and I already put about 20k miles on them. No warping, nothing yet.

If you're about to spend $2000 on BBK, like many already said, go another route.

You can see my ECS brakes on my members' Auto bio thread.

Hope this helped, hope I didn't confuse you even more.

    Re: Ecs Bbk

Why does an S4 need a BBK? I have never found the fail point in these brakes (multiple autox and one track day).

Also, I have used ECS rotors on a few of my other cars and have never had an issue.

    Re: Ecs Bbk

I have used the Coleman Racing (ECS Tuning) rotors and they are fine for the street and limited track use but they do not hold up to even an OEM rotor of the same size. These rotors tended to have very wide airgaps (thus providing actually less overall rotor thickness as the same depth OEM rotor) as well as LESS cooling vanes than OEM. They just dont dissipate heat as well. ON the track, be prepared for no more then 20 minute sessions before boiling the fluid.

    cheers! mike

I can set you up nicely with a Stoptech kit for around the pricepoint you're looking at.
    Get at me.

My Rotors don't warp cause they're made with US\German metals and materials.
