    H&R/Koni install

All this talk of the Koni/H&R got me motivated to do my install.

I read a couple of the how to's on installing a suspension on the S4's and wanted to make a couple of notes.

Front suspension. You don't need to loosen the tie rod from the control arms when taking off the struts. When you loosen the upper control arms the hub moves out of the way enough to get the strut out.

Rear suspension. With the rear subframe supported on the side you're working on, take the subframe bolts completely out and lower it until the spring comes out. Doing this made the rear install very very easy.

Yo J-Dub thanks for the informative thread, tons of people will find this useful.. not only for your install write-up, but for those people (like me) deciding what type of suspension setup they want to go with!

    Re: H&R/Koni install

Are you running the H&R Coils with Koni's? That's the setup I have. I'm getting a slight clunk from the left front backing up or first starting out forward. Friggin' dealership that installed them is telling me that it's the coils and that they don't seat the same as the stock springs therefore the clunk. What a bunch of shit.

They won't seat the same if they are installed incorrectly. The springs have to sit correctly in the rubber bushings or else it could cause problems. Also if they didn't get the strut bolts tightened all the way down the strut could move up and down causing your noise.

I am running the H&R coils and have no clunk. I would go back to the stealership and ask them to re-evaluate their install.
